I have question regarding the ordering process. Did your dealer lock in the trade-in price for old car at the time of ordering the new X5? My dealer said it is best to give estimate for trade-in when X5 arrives because it will be a couple months.

I had my trade appraised and agreed upon two weeks before mine arrived. And they honored the agreed price. Mind you I didn't put thousands of miles on it during that timeframe either. The last minute trade-in low ball is a pretty common tactic, I actually shopped my trade to several dealers to get a reasonable expectation of what was fair.

My X5 wont be arriving until February. Is it okay to ask dealer a guaranteed price with limit on mileage provided it remains in same condition?

I'm not sure why the dealer's pants change color. The only incentive shown was the $1,000 loyalty credit. If the deal included the additional $2,000 finance credit as part of the selling price, the discount from MSRP is 5% on this deal. Details:

Total MSRP $85,025
- 5% MSRP off or $4,300
-$1,000 loyalty
-$2,000 finance credit
=$77,725 Selling Price

In addition, the money factor equals 4.36% interest rate.

There are many deals shown in this thread in the 6% off MSRP plus $3000 in incentives ( loyalty and finance). So, this is a good deal but not something that should cause a CA to have to change their britches.

Just placed an order I think..

Hello all, I have been learning quite a bit from the forum so thank you all who post here.

I just placed an order through an email with my SA but I'm not sure if this is how it works. I have never factory ordered a car before. SA sent me a pdf with the configuration for me to confirm so I confirmed it. He sent a credit application to lock in the APR credit so I filled it out and sent it back to him. He said that's it. No deposit or contract. Is this normal? He mentioned that I can contact him to track the progress on the production.

In regards to the price, I got 6% discount before the APR credit without much hassle.

Yeah same thing with me. I am curious if the credit rate should be locked in at the time of delivery. Let's wait for the more experienced people to reply.

My deal:
Alpine white X5 40i + off-road package + Executive tier + night vision package and other small things. The Vehicle Inquiry Sheet has Production Number already!

MSRP: 77930
Selling Price: Invoice 73,060
Financial Rebate: 2000

They lock the rate when they run the credit check for 60 days (90 for cali I think) but when you pickup if the rate has gone down you can opt for that instead if you wanted or finance with someone else (but will loose the BMW APR credit if you do that).

Also - dealers choice if they want a deposit or not, usually they have you sign the credit app obviously and most have you at least initial or sign the offer just so there is no confusion, but in most states you can walk away even once the vehicle arrives.

my sales manager has not asked me to fill a credit application or pay security deposit yet. he has not asked me to sign an offer either. we have basically communicated everything via email and we have agreed on the offer Invoice - 2000 Rebate and the trade-in allowance via email. Will that be good enough or should I ask for official summary of offer? He gave me the production number and said VIN will be available once production starts which is production week 1.

My dealer tried to do this exact thing with me, I essentially walked out, he called a few days later and got him to lock my car's price, no matter when the new car arrives. He agreed and we signed papers locking in my old car. This was 3 weeks ago, I pick up my new X5 this Friday. So, he can definable lock in the price of ur old car AND HE SHOULD

He honored to give trade in price but he hasn’t given any order summary that lists all the selling price, rebates etc. for me to sign. It’s all in the email though. He hasn’t asked for any security deposit either. Should I request something more confirmatory?

Mine printed out a detailed sales papers with the MSRP of new car, discounts, rebates, monthly payment after down payment, the locked in price of my car. I signed it and the manager signed it as well. He did write on it that I shouldn't exceed 1500 miles on my old car, which I never would have anyway since I don't drive that much. I would ask for all the details to be printed and sign something like that. I did put down $1000 deposit as well.

Arctic Grey 4.0i - Coffee Extended Merino/ Driving Assistance Plus/ Luxury Seating/ M Sport/ Parking Assistance/ Executive/ Premium/ Glass Controls/ M Sport Brakes/ Heated Seats, Armrests, Wheel/ Leather Dash/ Harman Kardon

MSRP $78,830
Rebates & Incentives -$3,000
Sales Price $70,620

Ended up adding the Easy Care total care 72 mo/75k mi extended warranty, tire/rim protection, and BMW maintenance extension for $5,200. That was all added after the sales price had been agreed upon and received a steep discount on the above additional services. They were originally asking close to $7.5-8k for the warranty/maintenance/tire/rim packages.

So glad I don't have to do this again until it's time to replace my M4 when the new model comes out. But wife is now totally happy

That's a good deal. I agree buying a new car is so stressful!

Smile Ordering

Hi guys,

I need some advice here. Can I negotiate price or expect dealer discount if I am placing a custom order with BMW? So far I am expecting the finance discount $2k and the new graduate discount $1k. Since the custom order takes many weeks to deliver, can the dealership lock the trade in value? I am guessing that I will be expected to make a deposit but can I get out of the contract if they messed up my order? This will be my first custom order and my first BMW.

Thanks

I made a deposit and locked in my trade in value, picking up my car tomorrow, signed papers 3 weeks ago, they gave me a mileage allowance but it was ok, so they locked trade in value for 3 weeks

That sounds good. I am hoping to have a smooth transaction.

So now I'm confused. I understood from earlier post that on a lease you do not get the $2K finance credit. I guess I'll find out when I ask for it but I'd like to know if it is fair that I should expect it. What's the deal? Thanks!

There are many deals shown in this thread in the 6% off MSRP plus $3000 in incentives ( loyalty and finance). So, this is a good deal but not something that should cause a CA to have to change their britches.

I thought the $2,000 credit was for either a loan or a lease. After reading the details again it is just for a loan. My mistake, I'll read more carefully next time. Sorry.
