because people like you will just settle.... The more people tell the dealers that it's a dealbreaker, the quicker BMW will react on it... But if you just settle, why on earth would BMW do anything about it? sorry, but this cannot be accepted as a 'design'... the one designing should be fired this instance. I drive a 7-year-old F11 and my seats have never or will never look that wrinkled... I can assure you that customers in Europe will not accept this in any way... especially since none of the brochures or configurators show these wrinkles... nor is it explained anywhere that the back seats are 'wrinkle-by-design'... Com'on Guys, let's support each other and hold back on the buying if this is not solved... in the long run every one will benefit! |

The Euro spec G05 that I saw here at the dealer had the wrinkles in the back seat. That vehicle was going to a European customer. I will have to ask to see if they complained...

Nice speech. BMW has a history of doing what BMW chooses to do. Theatening to not buy their product doesn't even make them flinch. They know their customer base has wide-ranging tastes. Heck, we can't get agreement on any design topic on this forum. For each enthusiast that hates something, there are 10 that love it or don't care one way or the other. BMW's not going to shift their design strategy based on some forum guy pissing up a rope. Getting together to teach them something is a fantasy. So, while I personally don't care for the back seat design on the G05, I love the car and I'm looking for the best color and best leather option to minimize what I don't like. As shown in the photos, some seats look better than others. I'll just find one that is acceptable to me. If you decide to skip the G05 because of the rear seat design and buy something else, that's entirely your choice. Just remember when you see a G05 on the road, there's a chance you will say to yourself, wow, that's an awesome car I passed up. |

Or you could be sitting in your wrinkly leather with half of a sunroof and see another high end SUV on the road and say to yourself 'wow, I wish I didn't just give that speech and buy this car" |

I've been driving BMW's since 1988. I always cross shop before getting my next one but my track record suggests I'll be getting a BMW again. Fact is there are nice choices out there and its a great time to be a car buyer. |

Isn't that the truth. Not one of those cry babies moved to Canada. We're still stuck with them.

I've many times times not purchased a car because I didn't like something about it. Best example for me is the E60 5er. I couldn't stand the design when my '97 540 was getting old I bought a 2003 540 used instead of a new E60. I wanted to like the new at the time 5er but I just could not do it. I drove the 2003 540 for years with a smile on my face. Wrinkly seats mostly likely won't stop me. I love the G05 otherwise. Comparing not buying a car to leaving one's country is pretty darn silly. Could it be that you bought a G05 and you don't like other forum members saying non-postive things about your new car? If that's the case, this is might be the wrong forum for you. |

I'm waiting for the 45e anyhow. But I will for sure put on paper, signed by the dealer, that I will not accept the car if it it delivered with wrinkles... That's not the quality I expect from a 100K car. sorry, my 100K is precious to me, so no compromises. and that's what everyone should do. this way you can put pressure via the dealers, who will definitely put pressure on BMW itself. sure we cannot expect BMW to listen to someone complaining on a forum... (although they do listen to comments on forums (e.g. new 3-series design was based on many complaints on forums)) And, no worries, you can yank the chain of the new guy anytime ;-) |

I love the back seats. They are softer than the front seats. Those wrinkles must really help out in the comfort department. Man the BMW development team really hit it out of the park with the new rear seat design.

For me is enough to delay my decision not exactly a deal breaker, love the G05 but I rather wait a few months before deciding, if BMW listens and this gets more viral, probably they will do something to fix it, it jis a $125k car down here, “by design” my a$$, and if it’s really intentional, it looks loose, cheap and badly performed, I used to install aftermarket leather many years ago with intentional wrinkles that looked way much better.
For me problem is that if you start with such wrinkles on a new car, after some time, leather will get more wrinkles from daily use and probably the seats will look like they have been used for years...old and wrinkled LoL Maybe this is a problem linked to the new seat supplier? |
