^ Obviously prices/discounts vary by region but I would think your discount should at least be 6% and probably more towards 10%.

Attached is the dealer quote + the SUV configuration.

I think based on what I have seen here, the discount is really low before taking into consideration the rebate. Can you guys let me know if I am getting into a bad deal or no?
Looks like what the dealer is doing is taking the difference between invoice and MSRP, dividing that # in half and that's the discount you're getting. The first dealer I visited did the same thing and it was a roughly $2-$3k discount.

You should aim for over 10% off MSRP before incentives, especially on a 2019 model now that dealers are just looking to get those off the lot to make space for 2020's.

Is there a resource where I can download the invoice pricing for this?

Edmunds usually has some useful information and you can build a car with your desired options and it'll show you an invoice price.

https://www.edmunds.com/tmv.html

On the X5 invoice is right around 6% below MSRP.

Thank you for this! This definitely seems like a raw deal since its an outgoing 2019 model. I would definitely like a 7-10% shave off the MSRP before they apply any sort of manufacturer rebate.

Currently considering trading in my G01 X3 due to uncomfortable seats for a 2019 G05 in Central PA...getting quoted 10% pre loyalty and financing rebate. Dealer seems to have stopped there. Should I be pushing for more?

It's worth a try. If they don't budge you can always go to a different dealer and see if they're willing to beat that offer. Obviously it differs by market but I truly believe on an outgoing 2019 model that dealers are looking to clear inventory on, you should be able to easily get over 10% off pre-rebates.

I agree. I offered 12% + rebates and was promptly denied earlier in the week. They came with their "final" offer of 10%. I turned it down so we'll see if they can improve that but August rebates roll off Tuesday so I guess we'll see if Septembers are any better....

Well I went to another dealer here in the Pacific Northwest
The Vehicle MSRP is 73770 (72775+995) and from edmunds invoice pricing is 69,055. The dealer is giving a discount of 3000$ only of the 2019 outgoing model, which is pretty low compared to other folks who are getting well below invoice price.

Here are my calculations:
If MSRP is 73,770 and
invoice is 69,055.. so basically 6.3%
His offer is 70,770.. so basically a 4.07% discount on MSRP.

I feel that way too much to pay for a 2019 outgoing model. Reattaching the specs.

I would be comfortable if he gets the price down to around 68606, which is around 7% below MSRP.. Am I asking too much here considering everyone is getting these discounts of even custom orders?

I would say perhaps you are at this point. Discounts vary greatly by area. If both of the dealers you went to are giving about the same discount then it could be that is norm around you. A couple months ago I was talking to my CA while getting some service done and mentioned how I see the discounts are a lot higher than when I got mine. He told me they have not increased at all in our area and still are around 6%.

All that said, see what type of percentage they are giving for custom build 2020s. If it is similar then you can either go for one of them or use that as a reason for them to raise the discount on the 2019s. Good Luck.

This makes sense.. My only issue is that if I custom build a 2020 and ask for quotes from these two dealers, they both might not discount the 2020 since they know that now I will only go for the more discounted one and its on their benefit to get rid of their 2019s? Thoughts?

Also another question? DO I have to buy this from a dealership in my area or I can reach out to the Oregon folks or even beyond and see if they can ship the car over (with a charge ofc), or is that not worth the hassle

Yes, they may go with straight MSRP for the 2020s but it would be interesting to see. It is sort of odd that both of them are only discounting 3% on the 2019s but maybe that is just the market there.

You can buy from any dealer you want to but the transportation/travel costs and aggravation may outweigh any savings you would get. I know quite a few people who have purchased cars from dealers hundreds and even more than a thousand miles away and it works out well for them. I would first work on dealers in your area and even around your state before going out of state.

Well looks like my dealer didn't call back today so it seems like I may have hit their max.

Starting to wonder what September incentives could look like unless I go back and get the paperwork filled out Tuesday. I imagine the rebates should improve so at this point I might just roll the dice and wait for Wednesday.

Now for the disappointing part. The dealer called back saying he can do with 6% off MSRP + Rebates, if I can come in right away (last day + last hr of the month). To be honest, I was pretty satisfied with this(6%) and was ready to go. Then got a call within 5 mins to hold on as he wants to talk to his manager. At the end he said instead of 6%, the manager can do max 5.3% off MSRP. The 0.7% is around 500-600$, so I backed out of the deal.

Lets hope September has better incentives, else its a car and 2020 is right around the corner

Ohh well onto September.

That sucks. They must really be stingy with the discounts if they won't give the extra .7% after a CA says they could. Don't be surprised if they call you back.

Sheesh.... that's so bizarre... you'd think they'd be begging to take 2019's off the lots with the 2020's already hitting.

Ya lets see what happens. It was also last day of the month (if something like that exists now a days or not).

Will update it here.

FWIW my dealer also said that I needed to get the paperwork done on Saturday but later said that Tuesday is the official last day of the month and September incentives are announced Wednesday.

Not sure if that means they can still write deals on Tuesday and have it count for August sales.

I read somewhere that if the last day of the calendar month falls on the weekend then their actual month ends on the first working day after the weekend. So by that logic, Tuesday seems to be that day. Also the incentives for Aug end on Tuesday.

Lets see what Sept gets.

Another thing that I inquired through the costco discount program and the dealer (same one I had gone) pretty much flat out said that he is offering more than the costco discount.

Another thing that my wife brought to attention is that one of the dealers told me that if I wanted to proceed with that discount ($2700 discount on a MSRP of 73700), I don't need to come in and just work with them online, which makes me feel that he is not interested in selling that car to me anymore and wants to move on.

Let's see if costco can have some sort of BMW discounts. Currently through the costco program they are offering 8% of MSRP on the Audi Q5 and Q7 for both 2019 and 2020 models. but its Audi

I can't imagine what the dealer is quoting you beats the Costco program. I'm not sure if the Costco program is also impacted regionally or not, but I originally looked into it as well and one of the participating dealers near me said the Costco program offers invoice pricing (which would be roughly double the discount of what the dealer is quoting you).

Did a bit of cross shopping with the q7. You can definitely get some amazing deals on it given the facelift is coming next year.

OK..so an update and another disappointing Customer Service Experience

Dealer 1: Agreed to 6% off MSRP, BUT conveniently raised the finance rate from 2.99% to 3.99% (Credit check hasn't been done. Pretty sure I qualify for 2.99% easily.. as earlier BMW was at 0.9%). The manufacturer offer is 2.99% and he said they can add 100 basis points to make up for the discount they gave me. I didn't like this AT all. Luckily all of this is happening over the phone. Still a NO deal.

Dealer 2: Probably the MOST arrogant person I have come across. I texted him Dealer 1's offer (6% off MSRP) with image. His words on the text not mine "I'm worth more, that's an insult to me" . Weird part is that my X3 was bought through Dealer 2, but with a different CA (who is unavailable for sometime).

My current reaction: and
