Build week 9, no production date?

This is what I received from my dealer today.... we have a week 9 build but no production date.... he also said it's an individual order. Is that different than the orders you all are placing?

The full merino leather might be holding it up slightly, but should enter production fairly soon. Though this is an M50i so can't comment on that aspect of it since I know others ordering M50i's have had allocation issues and delays in production. Hope you get your VIN soon and production begins!

An order is considered individual if it contains a priority 1 paint (tanzanite or ametrin) or merino leather or a priority 1 trim (piano black, wood ash, cross black). Ordering an individual option can extend the build time up to 10 weeks.

I've got a X6, M50i on order (with one (I think) Priority 1 item, Acoustic Glass). Here's my timeline:
- 1/14/20: Order placed
- 1/27/20: Got an allocation, Production # assigned. Initially a Week 10 Build
- 2/18/20: Build week changed to Week 15 and PCD confirmed for 4/23

So, hard to tell if I was shifted from Week 10 to Week 15 because my build is an M50i, a Priority 1 item or just because of PCD scheduling. (There have been rumors of all of these as possibilities at some point in the last couple of months!)

I did PCD towards the end of February, 2015 when I got my last X5 and the Blue Ridge Parkway was closed due to snow in the Smoky Mountains, so I'm OK with it being April this time...should be able to drive the Parkway, maybe go down to the Tail of the Dragon, etc. So, I like the April delivery date better anyway!

I would think if you've been told a week 9 build, it should be being built now? Do you have a VIN? Sorry if I missed it (on mobile so can't look) what does your build look like?

I've a week 9 production, SA gave me my VIN on the 13th. M50i, Saphire black, coffee extended, leather dash, alcantara headliner, DHP, most all other options except B&W, night vision and rear entertainment.

I have M50i Mineral White, Black extended and all the options except acoustic glass and trailer hitch.... I never got a VIN, just a build week. Order placed on the 1/25 then they got allocation 2/6. I actually have 2 dealerships who placed orders at the same time. Since I'm doing a buyback with BMW whichever car comes first is what we will get, and they both know this. Negotiated price and everything just waiting on the car to go into production.

I don't have a trailer hitch on mine either, it sounds like we've similar builds so I don't see why yours would be held up. When did you last ask for an update? Do you have production numbers?

Yesterday was the update with this screen shot. I do have production numbers .... I may call the 800 number and see what they tell me UPDATE:
I called and they told me no different than what the screen shows. They said they only see what I see. So waiting game for the website to update I guess.

Not unheard of, my X5 went for a week with scheduled for production, no production week assigned. Then no update until 5 weeks later, VIN assigned, production begins week 46.

09/21 Ordered
09/24 Production number
10/03 Scheduled for production, no week assigned
10/29 Production begins, VIN assigned, week 46 assigned
11/15 Production complete
12/13 PCD

I hope it's not 3 months beginning to end... I'll be carless in 3 weeks ... really not wanting to pay for a rental in the interim

It most likely shouldn't.

I had ZAEI Individual interior optioned, which added more time than expected, PCD and didn't mind waiting to get higher lease residual for Nov/Dec

What is your estimated completion date when you call BMW NA's automated system @ 1-800-831-1117? In my experience, you will see your car move from "Production Begins" to "Entering Assembly Line" the day before that date.

Just called, spoke to live rep ( supposedly more accurate) Was told completion 2/22. But I find that hard to believe as it is a Sat & also online tracker does not show assembly started - we will see.

What did the automated system say? I'm basing my experience on the automated system dates. My first X5 order also had an estimated completion date of Saturday (1/25), and sure enough, on Friday (1/24), I saw the status change around 1 pm PST to "Entering Assembly Line." Throughout the same day it went all the way through "Quality Check." And even during Saturday, it progressed all the way through to "Awaiting Carrier Assignment." So don't be surprised if your car moves along later today and progresses throughout today and tomorrow. My current X5 order is currently in assembly right now and is in the "Quality Check" phase. My estimated completion date for it was today. I expect it will progress throughout the day.

Once it starts, it should take less than a day to go through all of the production steps and get into QC. I think they assemble on Saturdays.

Didn't use automated, went right to live rep. But maybe it will move through tomorrow.

Got ya. I didn't think they built on Saturday's if I remember from PCD in 2014, but that may have changed. Given the demand, I would not be surprised.

Sure enough, and as expected, progressed to "Awaiting carrier assignment" just now.

You are correct. I found this post by Auricom and the 6 days they work are Sun-Fri and not Mon-Sat.

"Plant is open 6 days per week - Sun to Fri. No one works Saturday.

3 Shifts - A & C Shifts, 10-hr rotating 4 days per week. B Shifts are Sunday and Monday evening shifts."
