I'm very happy with the car so far. Just got it a couple of days back.

Overall the air suspension is so comfy but it's not bad for handling. I already have an M2C so was not looking for a right ride anyway.

I feel that the X5 in sport plus feels so good. The steering on center is great.

One thing, I just noticed a slight impression of 2 lines on my steering wheel. Please check out the last pictures I have posted. You only see the lines if you look closely and they are not deep at all. Can I fix the impressions using a leather conditioner? Sales guy says it is from the factory so only thing they can do is try to replace the steering. But I prefer if it can be made better to look or fixed. He said it might get better as the leather unfolds.

I got the 3rd row as well and surprisingly it has enough room for short adults.

Congrats on the new car mate! Looks amazing.

I am picking mine up tomorrow. I'll have a look to see if I have lines in the steering wheel too.

Same here with the steering wheel - but I don’t want dealer to replace my factory made and factory installed steering wheel just in case if dealer further screw up the installation. I don’t think the lines will go away on their own - had mine for 3 Months - lines are still there. If it really bothers ya - i guess you can ask dealer to replace it for ya - but personally I rather not

Agree with this feeling. I suspect you'll forget about it eventually and it isn't worth the risk of replacing it. You're happy with the steering, so never know if it would be the same once dealer mechanics swapped it out.

Either way, congrats on the car, it's awesome! Same colors as our previous (F15) X5.

Thanks everyone, I will post more pictures in the weekend.

I'm loving the air suspension. It's comfortable but in sport plus it's perfect.

Car definitely looks sharp.

Also I wonder why everyone has these 2 lines on the wheel? It's strange.

Yes I rather not take a risk and start a new issue.

I'd for sure have them change it, but would ask to see the new one first. I'm not sure the process but it shouldn't be hard to change that out and shouldn't have any affect on anything else.

The steering wheel on my current car has 2 small scratches on it which I'm sure was from our SA's giant ring she had but I didn't notice them till a few minutes after we drove off. Didn't say anything but should have. Haven't gotten worse, but obv didn't get better and I notice them every time I drive.

I just think about how hard it is to get bicycle handles straight with the front wheel when you adjust it lol. But this is all drive-by-wire, not sure if that makes a steering wheel replacement more or less likely to mess with the steering alignment, but some have reported their steering being a bit off-center, so not worth finding out, IMHO.

Why would they need to replace the steering wheel? The lines are on the airbag, you can replace that in a few minutes. It'll take longer for them to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery then it will take to actually swap that airbag.

No idea but that's a good point. Someone said swap the steering wheel, including that being the "only option" according to his CA. That's all I was referring to. Further, another thread just confirmed the steering isn't by wire as CA's have led some of us to believe.., so that issue is moot too.

It's possible these lines are the "thinner part" behind the material where the airbag expands out of. It would split in the middle and swing out left to right, allowing the airbag to expand and not fire airbag cover shrapnel into your face. You can see the breakpoints / thinner material areas in a lot of cars in the passenger airbag area.

I feel left out, no lines.

Those lines remind me of marks that I used to get when I would have my car's tires aligned. They put a bracket on the steering wheel and anchor it to the driver's seat to keep the steering wheel from moving while messing with the front tires.

I don't know if they still do it that way (this memory is from the mid-90's).

Have you tried a moderate heat from a heat gun or hair dryer? It might help relax that area.

I wouldn't have it changed out. You're asking for problems! I would use a good leather conditioner first and try to massage the lines out. The less people dinking around with my BMW the better. Lol.

Just picked up my new car. My steering wheel does not have the 2 straight lines BUT it does have 1 deeper but smaller squiggly line in the centre of the cap.

I very rarely stare at that area anyway so it shouldn't be much of an issue for me. When I get the eventual leather cleaner products (Ivory white interior) i'll try to see what I can do. However I've had a feel of the area and I don't think it is something you can massage of rub out.

You know what...leather, by definition is natural and as such has intrinsic variability. So does wood, and although my preference is to have uniformity, the unique characteristics of the individual panels make it special. Celebrate its uniqueness!

While I do agree with you (Sometimes I think there is a dirty spot on my hardwood floors, but it's just its intrinsic variability) the steering wheel does seem more like a man made thing lol.

Guys I'm too scared to mess around so I might stick to what I have. I will talk to my service advisor to see if they can only replace the air bag portion and not the whole wheel. But in the meantime I will try fixing this using zaino leather conditioner.

I found something new today.

The plastic cover above the left wheel seems bent but I was able to straighten it a bit. I could make it look better but I will not mess around too much. Now it's not that noticeable and if you look carefully you will notice only from certain angles.
