Interestingly in Autocar last week, talking about the new 3-Series a BMW product manager mentioned the ability to remote heat the car. That would be a new feature for the 3-Series in the UK but why not on the X5 |

I have asked the dealer a few times but his lack of response on this point suggests he doesn't know...might be worth checking with the online chat function?

It should if you have them set to auto heat up at a given temperature.

I'm not sure what I am missing, but I do not have the ability to remote start via the Connected App, the FAQ's in the App specifically it is not allowed. Did anyone that has actually remote started via the App do something to enable or update this?

Dsan, there is a setting within iDrive in a location that is less than intuitive to find. Within the climate control menu, you need to enable remote starting. Enable there. Refresh Connect app. You should be good to go.

That is all done. Deleted and reinstalled the BMW Connected App. No changes to the App. Where is the remote start feature in the App? on the main screen with the lock/unlock/horn etc?
Forgive my ignorance here, as I was pretty annoyed that this feature was not available to me even though genius said it was. I never did verify prior to delivery. |

Just thinking... am I an idiot? Is this "send departure time" that will start vehicle? I was just watching a youtube video to confirm my settings, and saw again that the settings are hidden under climate control. Just popped into my head that that might be where start is "hidden"

I initially thought that it would start at the period in time selected, this is not the case.

Pressing and holding on "Climate Control Activate" immediately starts the car remotely.

I had tried that but the submenu is horn and lights. How long does one press Climate Control Activate to do a remote start?
