Alcantara Headliner/Moonroof
Is the moonroof shade Alcantara, as well?

Appears to be, or at least looks very similar - it's actually a length of flexible fabric on rollers, that feels like a fine mesh but is obviously opaque to light:

Interesting. I have a 2021 X5 M50i with Alcantara headliner. My center section is NOT Alcntara, or anything like it. It's a nylon mesh...typical of the standard headliner. Can someone provide a close up picture? I took delivery about 3 weeks ago. Looks like I may need to get this fixed.

I just want to be sure I have what I'm supposed to have. If what I have, is what comes with the Alcantara option, then I'm good. But if others are getting an Alcantara type material moonroof curtain, then that's what BMW is going to need to make good on.

I'm not exactly sure what's being asked. The headliner curtain looks and feels like Alcantara to the touch, and matches the surface texture of the surrounding headliner. It's different in the sense that there is not a solid surface underneath like the rest of the headliner - it's a piece of fabric that flexes when you touch it. If you press it, it feels like there is a fine mesh underneath the surface (I'm guessing the material needs to be attached to something), which makes sense because it's, well, a curtain. My best guess is that the fabric is Alcantara (assuming you ordered the Alcantara headliner).

Okay...that's definitely not what I have. I guess I need to go back to the dealer. Will most likely do that Monday. I'll try to post pictures of mine tomorrow
Thank you for taking the time to reply and post the pics...you've been a huge help.

Should also point out and clarify that my car is a MY20 40i - and the MY21 cars have been considerably "fooled around with," in the words of Donald Sutherland, the orange juice guy....

My Alcantara roof equipped X5 has a mesh moonroof cover. It's a "2020" X5, but was built in June, spec'd as a 2021. Here in Germany, cars are categorized by the year they're registered, so it's registered as a 2020 model, but has the 2021 changeovers.
In addition to the moonroof cover not being Alcantara, I do not have the glass volume control knob usually included in the Crystal package either. Looks like BMW is cost cutting.

Now we're noticing the omission of Alcantara-like moon roof shade for 2021?

For those with the mesh covers: do you have the panoramic sunroof or the sky lounge sunroof? I have an alcantara cover with the sky lounge, and it blocks the coloured lights from the sky lounge window when it is closed: the regular sunroof wouldn't need to worry about that. Maybe this is the difference? Or maybe it's just part of the 2021 MY cutbacks. On the bright side, MY21 have the 48volt assist in the i40, which likely makes the auto-start/stop feature a lot smoother...
