The problem is the majority, likely the overwhelming majority, of CAs do not deal with the job professionally. They see no value in spending the time learning about they product when they can just say anything to push sales. I, and I'm sure many members here, could never operate like that as I would feel I'm doing my clients a disservice.

Any update on the fix, our X5 50e has been stuck in quality check since July 14th. Neither Genious nor CA have any update. I was hoping to get delivery by 8/4 so we could use it during our vacation but I’ve lost hope.

The recalls/stop sales are not effecting production from what we have seen.

As far as the recalls go, the knee air bag parts are shipping and the software update for the DMTL is expected this week if it already hasn't been released.

BMW Seattle has no updates on remedy for DMTL. Anyone has other information?

Same. Since July 12th. No updates.

My dealer said there’s no issues, they’re just backed up. Which I told him is BS 🫤

hmm, coincidence or not: My dealer service department finally is looking at my 50e today, Wednesday, after having it in their possession for 10 days. It's like they must have known something but neglected to share it with me.

Heard from a buddy of mine who is a tech at a dealer, and he says that bulletin is still showing up on there systems as saying that there is no solution available yet.

Are you talking about the knee airbag specifically? The BMW USA web site does note that as of just a few min ago. “Status: Remedy not available.”

Sounds like folks like Turtleboy though have heard those replacement parts are working their way into dealerships as we speak?

Or you referring to the leak sensor?

Leak sensor. Which is what we have. I sent the stop number and defect code and he looked it up that way. Dealer just got back to me soon saying no release solution as of 2pm ET.

The knee air bags are being sent to dealers and repairs are being completed. Here is someone that posted this morning that they are getting their's done today.

"Parts arrived yesterday for the airbag and they’re swapping them out today…anyone else? They said they are sending parts to the vehicle in the order of when they were produced."

I don't believe they are shipping them in that order (unless only referring to stop sale vehicles and those brought in by customers are also in the mix) but that is besides the point.

Got it, thanks. As of this morning, my dealer says no solution available yet on the airbag. But that shall be taken with a very large grain of salt — and I’m assuming he’s using the same basic lookup tool I copied above. Thankfully, the group of experts here generally keep me several steps ahead of the dealer personnel.

In any event, I can’t say I’m all that concerned or excited about getting a new knee airbag, so I’m not gonna push this one. But I do want to get the car in with the dealer to try to beg my way into an 8.5 update… that’s the real prize! Other than if I were to get in an accident that triggers a knee airbag…

Just got an update, no fix coming this week anymore. They are telling dealers within the next 30 days, but who knows.

Ok, I just heard from my dealer that my x50e has been upgraded to iDrive 8.5, and the tank sensor issue has also been fixed. They will let me pick it up this evening.

Update us when you get it and see what the order says. Are you buying it today or did you just take it in for service?

Dealer on my end says they don’t see anything. Wonder how you were able to get passed it.

I heard from my SA about a similar timeframe on the airbag recall specifically. When press, the SA acknowledged that all of the replacement parts are being prioritized for vehicles affected by the stop sale order and then cars already on the road would come later.

I suppose that’s not shocking — and reasonable, since I get to enjoy the car since it’s already in my possession. It’s not like I think to myself, “ugh, I really don’t like this knee airbag.”

The SA did confirm that I would get 8.5 whenever it got in for the recall work, but given others’ experiences, I wonder if that’s actually how it will play out. By the time it’s in for the recall fix(es), we might be getting eerily close to the OTA.

I read an article several years ago about a young, very enthusiastic car salesman that decided he was going to educate himself on all of his dealership's products to a level that none of the other salesmen would come close to. He just new that this would make him the best salesman on the lot. Sadly, it made almost no difference. The buyers were just not interested enough in the features to make a difference in their buying decision.

I'm sure it didn't make much difference in sales which makes sense. The average customer, even at this price level, knows and cares very little about the details of the vehicle they are purchasing. They look at color, attractiveness, etc. I would want to be able to give them details on everything but more than likely it would go in one ear and out the other.

Buying it, it arrived at the dealer last week (Seattle is the slowest delivery region) but left the factory around 5-6 weeks ago, don’t remember exact build week.

I am at the dealer now so we’ll see.
