Did they say whether or not it included an upgrade to 8.5 as part of the fix?

Pretty sure it’s the drive assist. I was told there is recall for my 50e that was just assembled end of July.
It has to go to dealer. I think it a part though not an update.

Also having issue w the valve that needs to be replaced

Issue w Apple play too.

Hi all,

Longtime lurker, first time poster. My new X5 (prod date 7/29) has this issue too. I picked up the car a couple weeks before this issue came out and was never able to get the driver assist Plus function to work. Same stop sale and stop sale code as everyone else.

Has anyone else who took delivery before the issue was found been able to get this fixed? My dealership says they don't have the fix yet and I have to wait for a notice in the mail.

Welcome to the forum. Since Stop Sales and Recalls are handled differently they are technically correct although applying the same version should fix it for you. Hopefully either the recall will be issued soon or they will update you if asked again. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Stop Sale Fix - license agreement

"Our Service Dept. will perform the described procedure to check if the license agreement for that vehicle option is showing on the vehicle. If not, they will program the vehicle to activate that feature."

So not any functionality change, just legal...

Took delivery today and myM60i was part of the stop sale/recall. The fix was installed last Friday. I had a 200 mile trip home today and it performed perfectly. Used Assist Plus for a 100+ mile stretch of completely hands free driving. IDrive 8.5 is very user friendly IMO.

I took delivery of xDrive40i (prod date 08/05/23) yesterday that had been affected by stop sale. CA said the fix was just software update. I have idrive 8.5 and assist plus works fine.

Just picked up mine from the PC yesterday and it’s got 8.0 still they said ‘this fall’ an over the air update will come or you can ask your dealer to update it for a ‘labor charge’ but the drivers assist works. So I’m not sure why it didn’t upgrade to 8.5 ? Maybe my production date was a little earlier ? Will ask my dealer to update it as I feel like it should be updated. Just be careful with the auto lane change it works great most of the time but sometimes it overshoots a bit so you should be also changing lanes with it to provide some correction in the auto pilot when needed. Hopefully the 8.5 update will fix this a bit.

Same here, only production date 8/1 and after will get 8.5 from the factory. Mine was built on 7/28 and has 8.0. Dealership wanted fee to upgrade.

I took delivery a couple days before the stop sale was issued. My X5 50e did come with 8.5 already installed but was affected by the lack of assist plus functionality. My service advisor applied the fix yesterday. The update took over 3 hours. He said in the past individual updates could be targeted, but now, when connecting for an update, all the vehicle modules are polled to see if an update is available and then installed. The feature works flawlessly now. Here’s the description of the work on my service invoice (no charge) if that helps…

They can't do anything for me even if i took the car in now to get checked out.

No idea on how long it will take. The folks at my particular dealership have no idea either.
That’s unfortunate. FWIW, I didn’t receive any bulletin or letter in the mail. In fact, the day after the software fix was available, my service advisor was willing to apply the fix even though he hadn’t received the official bulletin yet. Perhaps you could elevate the request to the service manager or the sales manager or ask them to contact their regional BMW IT rep who should definitely be aware of this fix and “educate” them. Good luck.

Just after I posted this I actually got a call back from the service center saying they actually do have the fix. Only took 3-4 calls and emails to my (excellent and super nice) service advisor. Taking my car down this weekend. I live 3 hours away so hoping it should only be a few hours kind of thing!

Congrats! With a 3-hr drive back, you’re going to love it on the highway. Enjoy!

My 50e was a week 28 build. I emailed the dealer again today and was told they expanded the date range that was affected.

"Service Action has been added as of this morning. You will need to make an appointment with service to get the car in. The car will require programing for this fix."

Update: it was a software update, took just under 2 hours. They also upgraded me to iDrive 8.5 I believe (7/2023) and the interface looks new. Assist plus works like a charm now!

No wonder I could not get the assisted driving to work, our 50e was produced in 7-14. I have not gotten an recall alert, do I need to call the dealer to see if I can bring it in.
