Discounts of course depend on the region and dealer. In the past we have had dealers not offer any additional discounts on prior year models for months after the new year started. Some offer it before it starts.
I appreciate the info. If my dealer isn't willing to offer me a discount on my build, then I won't take delivery. It makes no sense. I'd rather wait a few more months and pay full retail for a MY25. I've been waiting since September, so what's a few more months, right? It seems like they wouldn't want a highly-spec'd MY24 sitting on the lot. Additionally, I've been keeping an eye on X5Ms and X6Ms at the dealerships in Houston. No one has any X6Ms in stock, and the X5Ms aren't moving fast. Of the six that were available only one has sold in the past week and some change.

Oh yes, you do look at the residuals first and the second year second year depreciates big time or and tell them to take 5000 off car 🚗 if not I’ll wait for a 2025

My custom X5 2024 order goes into production this week. I emailed my dealer about MY25. He said it is not orderable yet. I think i did get a good deal on my X5 24 (10% off).

Is there any room for negotiation before I pick up the car? I'm not sure if I can cancel my order. I do not mind waiting few more months to pick up My25 at no discount as well.

You can always ask but they likely will stick to the original deal. You are in CA so you can cancel the order without penalty.

You would rather a 25 at no discount over a 24 with 10% off?

Wow I have not heard better than 8% when shopping last week for a 50e in the northeast. There were several that were firm at 2-2.5% before incentives.

Thank you TurtleBoy, always helpful. Appreciate it. Any idea how long would it take from production (this week) to when it arrives at the dealer ?

Yes, the depreciation would probably be more than 10% right? Just feeling a tad bit bad the car will immediately be a year older :-(

Idk man. If they offered me 10% off I think I would take that deal. Especially if there are no huge changes for MY25.

If you go for my25, wouldnt it be the same scenario when my26 comes out? At least for my24, you had 10% cushion.

Not really right? I would expect my26 to be sometime next year. I would be picking my25 in a few months.

Thanks for chiming in. It does look like I do have a good deal and may keep it :-)

Another thing to consider is that a new MY isn't a guaranteed improvement. Prices will certainly go up. A small feature may become standard.

But what will they remove as additional cost savings, as we all know is the trend these days. Would you be happy if you cancel the 24 order and then find out you can only get 5% off on a MY25, but this car doesn't have a certain feature or package that your 24 order did?

I haven't negotiated a deal yet, so my situation is different from yours. In my case, if they want to charge me MSRP for my 2024 order, then it makes no sense; I might as well wait a few more months for a 2025 model. 10% is a good deal but I do feel your pain. It sucks to be so close to the MY25 release.

It should take 3-4 weeks to the SF area.

I'm probably wrong but am going to guess no price increase.

Of course you will be right. With my luck, were looking at historical price cuts for MY25. I'm so confused on what to do.

It seems that many are worried (obsessed) about a drop in value of MY '24 when MY '25 hits the streets. Historically speaking, does anyone have any hard data to support or disarm the theory that there is a significant drop in value when a new model year goes into production? Even so, the value of an asset is critical only if one intends to dispose of it at a given time.
Furthermore, I don't see huge changes to MY '25 other than possibly some driving assist enhancements. I doubt that the beloved "Buttons" will return to any significant extent.

Surprised to see so many are caught up in whether or not to keep their MY24 order versus cancelling and waiting for the MY25 in a non-LCI year. Unless you intend to sell the car in the next 6-12 months it likely won’t matter at all other than you just wanting to see 2025 on the window sticker in the year 2024. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It's possible that there will be some technical fixes (50e?) starting with MY25.

Well, a car is not an asset, so that's one thing. Secondly, for me at least, I would like to have benefited from my purchase somewhat before seeing its value drop immediately. I don't have any data to back up how much it will drop, but very few people will pay full MSRP for a '24 model when the '25s hit the lot, so the value will definitely decrease. I don't plan on selling my vehicle in the next year or so, but you never know. However, if I can get a good deal, I will definitely keep my order.

The value proposition is the main factor for me, but I'd be lying if I said having a '25 model wouldn't be more appealing. I just have to wait and see. I'm definitely not paying full MSRP with the '25s releasing so close. I think my dealer will understand and work with me, as they will obviously want to get rid of all the '24 models.

I'm honestly still inclined to keep my 24 order. I'm not getting a great discount, but it's decent enough. Maybe I can push for a little more. Let's be somewhat frank here, we're all capable of buying a somewhat expensive car, so a couple thousand dollars here and there are probably not going to change many of our lives.

I would be shocked if the 25 is different in any material way. So just going with my order and moving on with life is where my head is at the moment.
