thats exactly what i have done, the onus is now on them, to either replace the seat OR replace the car... but i am not touching it until either or.

AGAIN, i have explained to them, if there is any difference in the seats , front and back, the car is getting refused....

Someone at BMW signed off on this debacle either with a reduced quality requirement up front or as a deviation from spec. I can assure you that they have a bullet proof spec and an army of QC people on staff to highlight any concerns well before you see the final product. The company I work for supplies MB, Ford, GM, Jag and others.... you wouldn’t believe the petty bullshit we put up with from OE QC pukes.

Magna is a 700 pound gorilla in the automotive industry. If they were being held accountable by BMW... they would have gotten it right.

As the consumer... we vote with our wallet. My vote is cast and I have accepted the level of quality in the car when I took delivery without itemizing this as a fault to be corrected.

I sincerely appreciate those of you on this forum who have highlighted the issue and drawn a line that this is not acceptable on a luxury vehicle. Some of the photos I have seen make me want to throw up! Fortunately mine is not too bad and Black Leather hides more than the lighter colors.

What’s next? Lemon Peel in the paint being designed in to reduce stress in the aluminum panels?

Stage Cue:::: Soap Box being removed now... normal programming may be resumed....... Thank you for your patience.....

Haha are you being serious? You saw what the initial batches looked like. If you think this seat is wrinkled to anything like the same degree then you will never be happy in life about anything. I at least am very happy with all aspects of the interior.

Toyota Camry has no wrinkles in the back leather seats, how they hell cant BMW do it when the car cost 5x more.

I am really worried about buying one, with this issue and all the others issues I have been reading about on this forum.

not sure if I should just wait till the 2020 model, keep my old x3 for another long year.....

This is the best proof that it's totally unintentional.

in this thread https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1582561
there is a video showing the X5 features...

Look how the rear seats look in the video:

I wonder if the marketing team would like to have the wrinkled seats in the video...

Suggests that BMW at Spartanburg has the sloppiest manufacturing and Quality Control op of any of them. Even Jaguar does better than this!

I too am worried. Am expecting delivery next week. At least I didn't drop a down payment.

You misunderstood my post. I am happy and you are happy. The color of your leather and the lighting make the wrinkles less visible than a darker leather. But if you look closely the wrinkles are there. And yes they are better than many. The wrinkles don't bother me at all.

Is it possible to block threads? Similar to blocking posts?

Is there really anything new here to discuss? It's getting painful to see this dead horse still being whipped.

I'll ask again since I still haven't seen anyone comment on it. Is there any evidence that using the back seat can induce wrinkling or make it worse?
