Hello all. I placed an order last week for a 2024 X6 M60i and the dealer tells me that the order is in, but they do not have a production number yet and it should be soon. Is there no number because they don't have an allotment, or do you think it is because the new 24's are just starting production in April? We are having a hard time trying to figure out how much of a wait it will be. Thanks all.

Allocations have not been issued yet, they should come out in new few weeks.

Thanks for the quick reply....hopefully we will be able to get one right away once they are available since the order is already in.

When the dealer says "the order is in" does he mean that it has been placed with BMW or the dealer has the order waiting to place it when allocations are announced?

He said it was submitted to BMW, they just cant get the production number yet.

The order is in the order bank and when allocations are issued they will be assigned to the order bank orders on a first in/first out basis.

In most instances they add it to the order bank and the process above occurs. I guess they could just keep it on paper but don’t see why they would.

OK. The reason I ask is because my salesmen told me that we can place an order when allocations are announced. Should I pressure him to place the order now?

You can try but it is up to the dealer as to whether they want to run a waitlist or not. It sounds like yours doesn’t.
