I’m planning on picking up at the performance center so I was wondering if that would hold things an extra week or an extra month. I know they only have so many slots available.

It all depends on how busy they are. At one point recently it was about a month or so delay.

Could be a few days, but in many cases by the time it gets updated the vehicle is already in transit and you might get a call from the dealership that its arrived before that status moves (assuming your dealership is within a trucks drive away).

Thanks. Unfortunately it has to travel all the way to the west coast/Bay Area which could take 3-4 weeks as has been stated on here before. I was just curious if it would update past the Awaiting Carrier Assignment. I guess there is some hope that it is already in transit even though the “dot” hasn’t moved on the website.

I had the same issue with my X5 sitting in "Awaiting Carrier Assignment". I call the Genius Hotline – 844-443-6487 and was told it had been loaded onto a truck and should arrive at the dealer this Friday (but I'm thinking the two storms this week may delay it a bit). When you call the hotline press the menu button to get to an agent and just ask them for the status of your build. You will need your production number or your VIN.

Mine arrived at the dealer last night and my garage says "Dispatched from factory". When I also called Genius earlier this week they said it would arrive at dealer till Friday. Just wanted to share this info with everyone.

Thanks for the information. I called and they said it’s sitting at the processing center and has not been shipped yet with no dealer delivery date. She did say that it would go by truck. I assumed it would go by rail since I am all the way across the country in the Bay Area.

West Coast vehicles go by rail not truck. Once it is dispatched you can get the bill of lading number from your CA and track it.

He is correct in that you can get an exact delivery date but you can track the train as it goes across the country. He can give you the BOL number since he has access to that. There are numerous threads on here shopping the tracking and how it is done if you want to try it.

I good CA should have a very good idea of when a new car will arrive at the dealership. You can also call the BMW Genius Hotline – 1.844.4GENIUS (443-6487). They should also know the scheduled date of arrival at the dealership.

The CAs at the two dealers I was working with have very long estimates, I think they are being conservative. I have a Week 6 production date, and he's estimating April...which seems a month too long.

When I placed my order, my dealer had some allocations they had already submitted, but were able to update them to my build spec, so I didn't need to wait long for my build to start. Here is the timeline for my build.

12/20/2022 Order Placed
12/20/2022 Order Received
12/20/2022 Scheduled for Production
12/21/2022 Production begins
01/13/2023 Exterior body assembly begins
01/13/2023 In the paint booth
01/13/2023 Entering assembly line
01/14/2023 Assembly in progress
01/14/2023 Quality check
01/14/2023 Final assembly
01/14/2023 Ready for transport
01/14/2023 Awaiting carrier assignment (a carrier has been assigned)
01/17/2023 Dispatched from factory
01/18/2023 In transit
01/22/2023 At the dealership
01/26/2023 Vehicle delivered

After Final assembly my CA was able to tell me within a day or two of when they expected the X5 at the dealership. It arrived when she though it would.
