Does the X5 50e REQUIRE iDrive 8.5?
The X5 50e I ordered has been at the dealership for about a week now and they refuse to allow me go pick it up because "the software needs to be updated to iDrive 8.5 and that update is not available to our dealership yet".
I find this reason a little odd. First, there are already so many X5 50es sold with iDrive 8. Why is it that they can't sell the car as is? And hasn't iDrive 8.5 been release a while ago? Also, with BMW, are software updates something that have to be done at the dealership? |

Welcome to the forum. They are wrong on two instances. It is not required and it has been available to dealers to install. We have had some members get it installed already.
It is currently scheduled to be available for OTA in September.

There are a few STOP SALE issue on 50e as well as a service bulletin on upgrade to 8.5.
However afaik the idrive update is Not a STOP SALE. |
