Man..... this thread really did get hijacked! LOL
That's ok, there's lots of useful info in here. I haven't re-read this thread in a while. Quote:
Brakes are back OFF the car now. I removed them to trade the car in.... only to later change my mind, and keep the car. So..... starting from scratch. Calipers are getting refinished in red. Wheels are getting re-powder coated in satin black. I'm going for a new look. In the meantime..... I'm buying a rear BBK in red..... from you..... to match the fronts

Ninefourteener and dentprotony@gmail.com, did you guys look into whether the bias would change with these brake upgrades? With 6 pistons and a larger pad up front, would you not be biasing breaking even more to the front than stock? I'm just wondering whether there might be unintended issues from the upgrade, especially with ABS and DSC.

This set up is factory fit on the F95 which is built upon the G05 chassis. Any changes will be minimal and likely the same sort of outcome as anyone fitting an aftermarket BBK. On my own car for example (F31) I have fitted 400mm 6 pots and 380mm 4 pots and the braking is better than the factory set up (which was factory fit M Sport brakes) with zero noticeable ill effects to braking bias. |

I've been on them a couple years now. It was purely aesthetic for me. The rears? I expect will be similar. I don't expect the car to behave any differently. The only "adverse" thing I noticed, is that 6-piston X5M brakes tend to squeal quite a bit more. The solution is to clean and lubricate the clips and pins.

I will have to calculate brake bias for the dual caliper kit, but i am confident it will be within 10% from stock, which considering that rears only do 25-30% of stopping will not be noticeable, but the pad will be larger, and aesthetically will match the front calipers 100% better. |
