x5 45e slight kicking after stop in electric mode
I am experiencing this weird behavior in my x5 45.
When driving in hybrid mode and coming to a complete stop, car is giving a small kick as if electric motor tried to engage again, it gives a small kick hardly noticeable. Has anyone experienced this?

Is the “kick” while you’re still in motion, say a few mph?
If so, it’s likely poor management of switching from regenerative + friction braking to only friction braking, or the increase of motor torque associated with opening the launch clutch. If the condition has gotten worse, it could be associated with either a change in your brake pad / rotor interface (the brakes and powertrain are both estimating how much torque they are commanding / making, and the errors show up as poor coordination) or possibly the transmission clutch adaption. If not, then it could still be a clutch adaption concern (particularly if the vehicle is new). |

While completely stationary?
The transmission will periodically run clutch learn routines to “learn” parameters related to the launch and disconnect clutches when stationary, but those should not occur that often, and with decreasing frequency with mileage. The only other thing I can think of is if you are unsteady on the brake pedal, the electric motor will spin up from stationary (kind of like ASS on a conventional / mild hybrid) in anticipation of needing to drive. If the launch clutch is holding more capacity than it thinks it is, or if you’re very perceptive, you could feel that. |
