40i/45e louder exhaust options?
Hello gentlemen, was wondering if any of you have done exhaust modifications to your B58 powered X5. The opened factory valve is nice, but just not loud enough.
I’ve been looking into possible options, and I’ve narrowed it down to 3 things: 1. Buy an Aliexpress valved muffler use that to replace the factory muffler 2. Buy a second hand m performance muffler and weld that to the car (too expensive) 3. Install a valve cutout (the only problem is that these tend to start leaking and rattling) Im really inclined towards the first option, seems the best of 3, but I’d like some other opinions as well. If any of you have anything done to your exhaust, please do share! |

Interested in this as well. Currently waiting for my 40i to be built and am considering adding the MPE before it’s finished.
Is there an expected timeline on any vendor catback options that anyone knows of? Also, has anyone been able to negotiate a lower price on the MPE during their build? |

FWIW I personally find value in a BMW engineered part installed in production vs something from Ali. Maybe just me but it seems like an unnecessary risk on an $85k vehicle.

Does the X5 have an option for valve controller like my G80 M3 does? Just picked up a 23’ X5 40i and haven’t looked into this yet. The exhaust is definitely on the quiet side.

Well I did it ! I bought an exhaust off aliexpress.com. let's see how it goes. By the looks of it, I will need the mpe bracket kit from bmw and some how trick or unplug the existing factory valve.
