I always liked the X6. So as the minority, trust me when I say that rear end is awful. The front and side look great but... yeah I don't know it's almost like bmw is assigning 2 different people. One to design the front and one for the back and then a third fella has to somehow make their two totally different designs work together

No and it never will. The interior is fine but the exterior of the X6 has always been hideous.

At least the regular X6 M has chrome grilles which I appreciate!

Its all about the ///Money. Think about it this way. They don't sell in mainstream numbers, I believe C/D quoted 10,000 X6's a year, but, I would think they make more money on each X6 than X5, as they likely share similar development/manufacturing costs, but the X6 has a larger price than an equivalent X5. I could be wrong, but that's my theory.

That's what I thought when I first heard about the car back in 2007 (concept).
Since I admired Chris Bangle while everyone was bashing him, I knew the design will be classic.
Fast forward to 2019, yes the first generation X6 is still the best looking SUV coupe.
It was also an important model because this niche segment of "SUV coupe" is what X6 started it all.

The new X6 M seems to be a love it or leave it body style. Personally I love it. It started growing on me when I first saw it testing on the roads where I live. I saw the quad pipes and followed it around like a groupie.

I think I'd go for the X5M myself if I was looking for something like this, the whole design seems to fit better. I'm not so keen on the rear end of this X6.

+1 ... great minds.... even if it sells poorly... the X6 helps offset the development costs of the X5
