FYI to those new forum owners: we had a ongoing thread last year on Draggy times by owners. Two common facts we found out is....1 we can get a slightly faster 0 to omg speed not using launch control. 2....what your elevation is and temp is at testing will give you a slight advantage. A final interesting observation is how easy and repeatable these big SUV's are at very fast launches. Even my wife can get a 4.3 second launch all day long just by mashing the pedal.

Quick is no longer the main reason to pick one vehicle over another.

My guess people who buy the X6 really want something special. It's not as practical as a traditional SUV, so no surprise the high take on X6M.

I just saw a black 2020 X6M; that thing looks menacing. The back looks great too. Very wide the way the lights are set...

Not surprising at all. Its a less practical more coupe-styled suv, the people buying them tend to have more disposable income, less kids, or just want spend more of what they got. X5 is for toting the family to the ice rink

I believe the gearing is different.
750 is meant t be high speed cruiser on the autobahn, so it has longer higher gears for more relaxed high speed cruising.


x5 and x6 have some off road capability so the 1st gear is longer which helps with the launch and off-road crawling since we do not have low gear option.

Previous poster has it right. I do have the first gen X5M and added the M50i to the stable. It is impressive how fast, smooth and confidence inspiring the new X5 is, you will always be at and over speed limit in no time, such a composed vehicle. Did a 2200miles road trip to the Rockies, loaded up and roof rack, and it was incredibly smooth and compliant.....including snow storm, some sleet, and fog.

Was going for a 40i sport and once I drove the M50i the difference was definitely worth the step up, no regrets.....even though the 40i is already a great SAV with a smooth engine and not underpowered to begin with.

Just do it! I went from a F15 50i M Sport to a F85 and can never go back to a non full on M. The perceived 'harsh ride' of the X5M is nonsense, as it depends where you live and the road conditions. Actually, the X5M has a higher level of luxury due to the full merino leather option (F85) and the G85 competition comes standard with the full leather. A BMW NA marketing manager told me that the former F85/F86 were the most comfortable seats that BMW made 3 years ago— looking forward to the G85/G86 seats. However, a trailer hitch on a X5M/X6M would be a eye sore, but what towing power.

I have inquired with the Germany BMW Driving Experience that the upcoming G85/G86 should be offered as a vehicle for the track training programs.

+1. No one buys the X6 in any variant for utility. Can't fit many soccer balls or groceries back there, nor even luggage. You buy it because you want a tall, unique coupe/sports car. So to compare % of which variant is bought, should be more similar to coupe sales than X5 sales.

I'm impressed with X6 owners. You can tell that they don't care at all how their car looks which would be really superficial.
