Remember you can apply a correction factor on a Mustang, so not all mustangs read the same. My local mustang uses a correction to get it to read like the dynojets so it doesn’t heartbreak so bad.

Yeah, my dyno had the dyno jet correction factor also but that's just estimated.

If you don't feel comfortable with your dealer, I suggest to take it out.
They are easy enough to install and uninstall.

My first time installing it, took me 20 minutes.

Or, you can always use the bypass plug and hide it.

They are not supposed to void your warranty, but local BMW SA and Tech's are not the smartest people.

I should've said MAX wtq +112. On the graph it looks like about +95 wtq low-end and then about +40wtq at high-end rpms which is awesome. But I see what you mean about the decline, it's way more rapid than stock after 4k rpms in comparison. At least the decline rate from mid-3k to 4k rpms is about the same and that's where the thrills are at behind the wheel.

Would performance be better overall if peak toque happens at 3k rpms like stock, instead of peaking a bit later at 3300 rpms? Or would peaking earlier be even worse for overall performance numbers (and for the transmission)?

Also, would having a little less low-end torque MAX output peak earlier help promote a mid-end torque flat curve? I don't understand why it dips so dramatically at 4k rpms.

Max driveability for us enthusiasts is achieved with a flat torque curve to redline. Torque spiking is done to inflate numbers plain and simple. They want to say if you buy X then you will get a monster torque increase. Torque spikes are awful for your tranny and the reason most tuners avoid them. Your tuners can push more boost at lower rpms then higher rpms because they lose efficiency after their rated CFM. Some tunes will spike the torque in the beginning because the turbos can run higher boost in low rpms, but as the turbos reach max CFM in high rpm ranges, they taper boost. Boost taper isn’t bad, but jacking boost through the roof to torque spike is.

Break in service happens tomorrow. Fastest 0-60 prior break in, stock is 3.66 with no launch control. I think it can do a pinch better pending conditions and launch control. I too just had an F85 I turned in with Bootmod custom tune (Halem) Stage 1 93+ octane and hit 0-60 in 3.58 launch control.

Have the JB4 ready to install after I get the car back. I'm going to do some more runs stock after with the dragy. See if break-in did anything. I'll then put in the JB4 with 2 connections only and canbus. Test those runs. There after 2 more connectors EWG and see if that gets an increase on other maps.

Hopefully this will give everyone a comparison of JB4 vs Race Chip. Honestly I love Bootmod3, but my DME can't be flashed until they break the code again. Was really looking forward to downpipes, stage 2 and 3 second flat 0-60's.

Dragy below is launch control stock after 1200 mile break-in service. Installed JB4 and ran a 3.2 and 3.26, then 3.25 on Map one with 93.

Sat in my buddys x3m and getting back into my X5MC... what you lose in acceleration, you gain in an overall better interior, comfort, and (subjective) better design.

A proper tune in time will make these numbers battles negligible.

Coming from a stage 2 F97 running an ethanol blend to a untunable, for the moment, F95, I echo your exact sentiment. Showed her off today to a coworker who drives a Range Rover. He said it was the nicest car he'd ever sat in. Then I turned on the massaging seats for him. Interior quality, technology, and luxury boxes are definitely checked for me. I'm just hoping to being the performance closer to something like what I experienced in that F97. C'mon tune and sub 11 quarters again. It's addictive.

Anything can be traced. I think the correct question would be, how easy can it be traced.

So, the answer to it, it won't be as easy as flash tune.
Also, in order for them to see it, you'll have to be leaving a good enough trace by red lining it at everytime you drive at every gear.
Because the amount of changes that RaceChip put is very mild and only a couple sensors, unlike other piggyback where will leave trace on EWG, Fuel Rail, and others.
Where more data will be over the factory specs.

Makes sense and def provides a better understanding. What appeals to me most is the fact that it gives a substantial boost without pushing the motor to its limits. From my experience all other options are done by kids with rich dads and bmw employees(both have safety nets). Rather take my chances on a risky investment

I just took my car to the track for the first time with this install. On map 7, I was getting 11.7s. Not sure if it was due to the set up, or the Race Chip. I thought it was more of a setup issue since I had a full tank of gas, only 91 octane, and full PSI in the tires, but I went to go check on the race chip just now and it'll light up when I start the engine and then the screen will go dark after 1 min. Wondering if this is normal operation and my set up was to blame, or if I may have a faulty unit.

RaceChip LCD screen on the module will go into power safe or blank, like the way your mobile phone is.
Screen went blank when not touched, but that doesn't mean your phones stop working or faulty.

As long as you're comfortable with terminating the powertrain warranty, go for it.
