You can look at it that way but it is just a byproduct of the system. It would cause nightmares and have higher costs if it didn't work that way. Unfortunately when our own vehicle is involved the other factors really don't matter to us. It is like saying a problem happens so infrequently it is not statistically material but it is very material/important to the person having the problem.

For me, with three delays so far, a statistical unlikelihood seems to indicate I’m jinxed and maybe this car isn’t for me. It doesn’t seem to have happened so often to anyone else on the forum.

I’ve emailed my local Porsche dealer tonight about a Cayenne. Costs more but hopefully they can deliver within a reasonable timeframe.

You are out a bit longer since you are not in the US but I think you will find quite a few folks who have seen a number of delays. We have members who were currently scheduled for the later part of December who have been put off a few times and are still waiting.

You, or course, need to make the decision as to what would be the best way to proceed. I have to think there was a reason you chose the X5 to begin with, while the waiting, delays and associated aggravation have eroded your view of BMW, I would think the X5 in regards to the competition would still hold the same place for you. I just hope you don't make a decision now that you may regret in the future.

Yes, you are right, I’ve had BMWs since 1998, but these delays, along with the concerns on the CEL and so on really have dented my enthusiasm and confidence.
I’ll have a chat with my dealer tomorrow and decide over the weekend on what I do next.

I don’t think I’d regret a Cayenne, bar the additional cost.

Not really. Spec is normal enough. No individual options.

Ok, checked with Genius again this morning, just to confirm things before I spoke to my dealer and guess what, it’s at status 150 this morning with week 19 production.

I’m genuinely not sure whether to believe it or not!

You may want to call a third time to verify. Genius over there, just like here in the states, is a job title and not a reflection on the competence, knowledge or output from them. I always recommend calling at least twice to verify any information given.
