First attempt at coding went pretty well, and was much easier and more uneventful than I'd planned. I expected "issues", and that didn't happen at all.
"M" startup screen A.S.S. coded off 5-blink turn signals A few other things too: Driver (only) seat belt reminder Startup warning inactive I did notice..... that I tried to activate video-in-motion... it "appeared" to have worked successfully (including the step pushing up on idrive, and confirming the selection). I shared my phone screen, but then when I drove, it didn't work. Hmmm. I'll try again another time. All in all, a successful day. |

Much more than I expected. I generally take it to the auto hobby shop on the local military base and get it done for about $80..... but they said that the rears were too big for their equipment.
Ended up going dowtown to a local tire shop... and they got me for 200 Euros (about $225) to dismount, mount, and balance |

Coronavirus quarantine + rare sunny day in Belgium = Car mods
These tips did NOT fit correctly, so I busted out my dusty old stick welder and made it work. I'm not a pro welder, so it's a sloppy job.... but you can't see it from the outside, and these suckers definitely aren't coming off. Also disconnected the pins from the flapper valves while I was under there.... now it sounds healthier too. Stoked about today's progress. |

Well..... that was a HUGE failure.... but, lesson learned.
Even welded.... one of them came loose.... the other came off. Incidentally, both were the outboard tips. The inboard tips stayed strong. It's because the outboard tips are just slightly lower, and they impact the bottom side of the exhaust trim, which I believe it what caused the install to fail. .... and the fact that the ID of the tips was too large in the first place. Lesson learned. No harm done. Very little money spent. Nevertheless, I've taken my own measurements this time, and I feel much more confident buying a different set for considerably more money. They are already on the way. I'll post up when "exhaust tips round 2" is completed. |

No mods to do today.... No parts left until my (2nd attempt) carbon exhaust tips come in..... or Autotecknik finally finishes making the rear winglets.
It was the first day that I've owned it, that I was actually able to properly hand-wash it (not a drive thru machine). Sun + warm weather is rare in Belgium. So.... nothing different, other than a bit less dirt I didn't even clean it when I installed the Mperformance graphics.... I just cleaned the areas where the graphics were going. The rest of the car was still filthy if you look closely. Lazy ass I am Still.... kind of a big deal to me. |

So I just ordered the Maxton design front splitter, in gloss black. "Too much" carbon fiber I think looks ostentatious. Just my opinion. Small pieces, sure, but when LARGE pieces are CF... I just don't like it.
I chose this splitter because it's the only one I could find that DOESN'T come with the "wingtips" on the sides. https://maxtondesign.eu/product-ger-...?rec=301001301 It'll be interesting to see how this rolls out.... with everything shut down. I had to have it delivered to my home address in Belgium, because they won't ship to APO addresses.... God only knows when I'll receive it. Why don't I want one with the "wingtips"??? Because guess what.... I ALSO have a set of carbon front MPerformance replica winglets on the way (Small carbon = good.... Big Carbon = bad - LOL). So.... the question... is can I modify the gloss black lip.... to work WITH the Mperformance carbon winglets?? If I can... I'll buy the rear M performance winglets. If I can't, the front winglets will be going up for sale. Now.... just waiting on the mail.

I was suprised as well. There was an upcharge for gloss black, and of course.... shipping. All in all it came out to 175 euro (about $200).
Everybody wants carbon..... which just isn't my thing.. at least not that much of it. Mostly.... I chose this one because of it's lack of winglets. Hopefully it's decent. Won't know till it arrives though. |

Cool, I look forward to your pics of it installed and hearing about how hard it was to install it. My beloved M50i is sitting out on the parking lot since 3 weeks with only the rare occasional drive to the supermarket, and I am now itching to do something to it and have some small project to occupy myself. Your rear entertainment setup looks good, will have a more detailed look on that, thanks for sharing!

I did receive the front CF mperformance winglets. They are in a box in my garage. Once the front lip arrives and I can install it.... I'll test-fit the winglets to see if I can make them work. If not, I'll sell the winglets. If so, I'll start searching for a rear set. But... much like you.... I'm just "waiting" at this point. |

The Maxton Design front lip spoiler in gloss black.
Overall.... VERY happy with the appearance. I had to work for it though. Poor packing, poor hardware, not enough hardware, and not enough supplies. I'll leave a full review as a separate post though. For now..... just pics |

Looks good from that angle. The one thing about the G05 is that front lips has to contour the lower front bumper area and makes them all angle upwards. It looks strange when lips are suppose to be parallel with the ground.

Looking great.
Did you compare the sound of the Harmon Kardon vs the B&W system? If so, I'd love to hear your review and if you are satisfied w/ the B&W given the cost. |

Admittedly, I think the bass is a little lacking though. Not "awful".. but I expected more of it. The "quality" is impeccable. But the "amount" of bass feels a bit low when playing bass-heavy music. Is it worth the nearly $4000 upgrade? Not sure. I mean, the speakers do look really good lit up. Lol Was it worth it to me? Yes.... but admittedly, sound quality is very important to me. |

I really liked having these grill inserts on my 2016 340i.
I'm not so sure on the X5. I'm going to give it a day or two and see how I feel about it. These might be going in the garbage...... not sure yet. |
