Reboot iDrive. Push down on the volume button/power button for 30+ seconds. Keep holding until the idrive screen shuts down. Everything should reboot. I bet this fixes your problem.

Did you code anything to the car recently?

I'd recommend disconnecting your battery for 15 minutes and then reconnecting it. It will erase a few things but might work. Battery is located in the trunk

So after all options to fix the issue didn't work i ended up taking it to the dealership and they said the problem was in the electrical circuit.
Not sure how it happened but my car is under warranty so they will fix it for free. Thanks guys for your help anyways |

My ambient lighting has a similar issue all of a sudden. The lights on the driver's door and the passenger door behind the driver as well as the lights under the dash shining on the feet of driver and front passenger will not illuminate. I can change the colors and intensity of all the other ambient lights but can not get the above two door and floor lights to come on.
Any thoughts? |

The dash strips have gone out a couple months back and returned before I could bring the car in for the check. They went dark this week. Any resolution from the others here?

The dash ambient lighting now works after a harness replacement. The glass ambient lighting is still inoperable. They believe it is the front portion of the panel and are replacing it.

I had the same issue months back. Visited the dealer and was informed that the moonroof seal was damaged and allowed water to get into one of the modules, changed the seal and module with the warranty.
I swear I just opened my moonroof for the first time in months and break and behold the lights stopped working again. |

I’m resurrecting an old thread for a 2nd time here but I have exactly this issue now and wondered if anyone had a better understanding what might be required and how this works.
First of all, the footwell lights in the front (both sides) do not work. I checked the fuse, this is fine. I also stole one of the footwell lights from the rear to test and I am seeing a very dim light for just a few seconds after the light is plugged in but then nothing. Secondly, the ambient lighting in all 4 doors does not work, this includes the lights in the interior door handles and the door bins. Nor does the ambient light in the centre console work. So just under the central vents and also running along the sides of the gear shifter console. Interestingly, the glovebox light and the light in the middle for the cup holders, mobile phone storage works. There might be others which do not work but I am not aware of exactly what should be lighting up in the X5 interior. I checked all related fuses to the lighting which is out. 4 fuses in total (strangely one of them being in the back of fuse box when the other 3 are under the glovebox). Does anyone else have this or have any ideas? |

Just took delivery of a 2019 X5 with 11k miles on it. The driver's side and driver's side rear ambient lighting isn't working while the rest of the car does.
Any quick fixes I should try at home before getting the dealer involved? I still have 1 year of warranty left but really don't want my new car's panels being taken apart so early into ownership. Thanks
