Agreed.... I can barely notice the difference inside the cabin after opening my exhaust valves full time. On the outside though, car sounds much healthier. I have my idrive sound settings to as low as possible. Not interested in fake noise.

Also not interested in making electrical changes though either. That's why I chose the mechanical route. The car still thinks it's operating 100%.normally.... it just sounds better outside.

There is some bad news on the flash tune front right now. BMW has locked the OBD2 on most of the DME software versions on the M50i. We have a number of good flash tuning options but all of them require the DME to be bench flashed. That means you drive there or you take the DME out of your car and send it to them. Note, the car is not drive-able while the DME is sent.

This is a monster negative for flash tunes right now. Most of the tuners I spoke with said they believe the software creators that they use to upload / download the tunes will figure out how to do an “at home” flash that gets around the OBD2 lock, but it could take days or 6+ months. No one knows.

At least there is still the JB4 route worst case scenario

Also G-Power on my M50i did a bench tune.

So I just got my truck back from the shop. I put the new AMR tuning tune on it. Claims 100hp and 130tq increase over the stock.

It definitely pulls harder, feels like an apr stage 1. The truck is amazing to drive. I still think it could use more, but for a daily driver it is pretty amazing. I would like to eventually get to downpipes and a stage II type tune, we will see.

There isn't a huge different out of the hole as the car is pretty heavy, but 40-160mph holy shit it moves. The truck routinely can hit 150-160mph without even trying even on small stretches of open highway, it really struggled with the stock tune to get past 150mph. I don't advocate driving this fast as the high center of gravity makes it in need of ample correction for windage, you really have to know how to handle it.

No CEL's or any other issues besides about 10mpg when dogging it or less. Im going to do some X pipes and that should satisfy me for a while.

If you are thinking about tuning, for $1500 you really cant beat the AMR.

So you did stock downpipes and tune only? I assume it had to be bench flashed?

Man, I need to get moving on this one.

Any updates on a 3rd party exhaust (cat back, or axle back) system for the X5 M50i? My M50i is still on order, so I don't yet know how well it sounds "stock", but I am just planning ahead ;-)

I replaced the resonators with X pipe and got 200 cell Downpipes. Open up the exhaust flaps with BimmerLink app. Nothing else really out there

I believe there’s one on the market but it’s grossly over priced from memory which is why it went straight on the “ffs forget that” list
Back in June, SuperSprint informed me they were working on a full system but nothing yet.

I removed the secondary cat and resonator and that’s saved me a fortune because it’s just great. Plenty noise with pops and crackles as well

I think the part connects to downpipe is different, and obviously the tips are different.

Impressive, are you stock? That's more than F95 X5Ms and really close to the current X5Ms...

No the car is custom tuned for stage 1, and I have high flow downpipes. With dynojet correction it's 630whp and 610wtq.
