After a single stage correction using wool pad and RUPES new UNO protect, taking my time, (lots of time) this is/was the result.
Guys also consider, when i did this we were in the middle of lock down. Im always busy with work, running a business and Life in general, but one thing lock down provided for me was extra time i don't usually have, plus i just always have to be doing something, im just one of those blokes. This isn't for everyone, i have many mates that i wouldn't ever suggest they do this as it would end up in a worse condition than when they started. But for me, someone who from his very first car hand washed them, repaired them himself etc.. it was always something i wanted to have a go at. By the end of this project my technique was pretty good, very fluid movement with constant arm speed. must admit its a young mans game for sure, Young im not, not old but you know what im saying. Happily do my own motor over the space a few days/weeks, but not a full time job. If i was in my prime id of set up shop as i really enjoyed it!

First shot is of the compound being left to cure. This compound has no fillers and is a very revealing compound, doesn’t hide anything, which is what you need . Second shot is basically the rear door worst section as photo’d above. It’s now basically a mirror, no other way to describe it, still a slightly visible, optical line, which to be fair i know i can get out, but was good enough for now and a huge improvement. Third shot is the obvious obligatory money/artistic shot etc..

Thanks for posting these.
Awful that they would deliver the car with damage like that. Makes a mockery of BMW 'Approved' Used and damages one's faith in the whole idea.
The outcome from Rupes is fantastic.
Well done. You must be thrilled!

If you get a chance at some stage in the coming weeks, would be nice to see what Rupes did to improve it.
It does indeed, Sytner didn't take any ownership for this whatsoever. Sales guy started avoiding my calls i genuinely had to fight with them, even in the end their attitude was 'its a used car, by the sounds of it you want a new car' absolute joke. Considering this car retailed at over £84k with this spec, i purchased it remotely, through approved used, which ive done before. Before anyone chips in, i know what you're thinking/saying, but due to circumstances (CV, Location, lockdown) i couldn't view it and the X5 G05's were being snapped up within hours of going online @ £50k+ bracket. i missed 5 cars due to demand. in fact my car now has increased in value looking at the market. End of the day i knew i could refuse it if it wasn't as described etc.. and that was my final point with Sytner, in fact i think i stated i deliver it back to their showroom, and i wouldn't be using the open doors either! I was then offered a partial refund to cover some of the work. end result is ive ended up with a fantastic spec car and a good price and some RUPES kit for future use, so I'm pretty happy...now.

Regarding ' what RUPES did to improve it', not 100% what the question is, but RUPES are the manufacturer of the kit and compounds etc, which i purchased, the results above are me using the RUPES kit?

Ah, okay, appreciate the info and correcting my knowledge on it.
I've got some light swirl marks and holograms, is RO likely to be good enough to remove light damage?

When I was typing that, I did think to add, 'and a million hours of your time', lol! Yeah, I know it's a system and you did the work.

As for Sytner... that smarmy response one gets when trying to gauge the condition of a used car, "Perfect? It's not perfect, Mate, perfect is a new car!" It's such a cop-out, the ultimate disclaimer. As if people selling cars don't know the difference between a mint used car and a badly treated one.

I had to fly over from Ireland, hotel & ferry booked to collect my X5 and face into 14 days of quarantine on return (with calls and texts from Gov to check) ...I was captive to taking the vehicle at that stage.

Anyway. mine isn't so bad, it'll get resolved, but it shouldn't need resolving.

Yes. Sapphire.
People have been telling me that the paint is now water based and less durable. Interesting that you've found it to be tough as nails.

At the risk of coming across like a massive anorak I opted for a pop-up garage tent to protect my M50d from leaves, tree sap and, to a lesser extent, sun & rain.

We're doing a reno & extension on the house next year which features a 2-car garage. Until then, my car's home is a tent. Definitely coming out of a Chinese factory, the frame isn't of the highest quality but it works and the canopy is excellent. 3.3m x 6m w/ premium canopy -€1100 delivered from www.houseoftents.co.uk[IMG][/IMG]

that's brilliant love that idea. i do have a garage at another property, but its being renovated/built/extended dust, bricks and builders everywhere so it goes nowhere near that place at the minute. best i can do is protect the paint with quality products. To clean now it literally needs a quick hose down. I also use a product called Fusso Soft 99 speed & barrier, once washed i apply this and it protects the paint for up to 6 months. great stuff!

Hi - quick question for the UK owners. If any of you got the electronic folding towbar, could you do me a favour and measure the height of the towball when it’s deployed in whatever suspension mode you use? Many thanks.
