I was updated to 03/2020.24 last Monday.

Found the first difference:

As before when pre heating the steering wheel heating also turns on. Before if you wanted to turn it of and you pushed the button on the first push nothing would show. Second push would show "steering heating on". Third push off.

Now it directly shows steering wheeling heating off on the first push.

Keep you posted on other differences

Not sure if you notice this, but does the comfort access seem any smarter? Ever since I went to 07/2019.xx and 11/2019.xx, it seems “stupid”. I turned off the unlock when approaching, but left on lock when leaving. Biggest gripe, I go to fill up the tank, and the car is instantly locking itself as if someone was inside hitting the lock button every 5 seconds. I refuse to leave my fob in the car out of commonsense.

That's why I turned this feature off. When I'm walking around in my garage I don't want my car constantly locking and unlocking. I have it set to lock manually and unlock on approach. Fits my needs perfectly.

So did I. I don't use it. I keep my key in my pocket and just unlock by taking the door handle which I have to do anyway to open the door. I lock by pushing on top of handle.

I will turn it on somewhere these weekend to see what happens.

X2. I never want to rely on my vehicle locking when I walk away. It’s not worth wondering “Did it lock?”.... I have my mirrors fold in on locking as one extra visual confirmation as I touch the exterior handle.
I have mine to just Auto Unlock and even then it’s a bit maddening when I am working in the garage with the key fob on me. We are so far past just a luxury/convenience feature that I wonder if it’s going the other way of over complicating its purpose????

Yeah... I always feel bad when I'm working in the garage and she wakes up and I hear everything starting to prime up. To me it feels like when you walk to the door and your dogs get all excited about going on a walk, but you don't take them. You have that twinge of guilt. It sounds like the car is getting all excited about going for a drive, but then you don't.

Exactly. I look in to see the ambient lighting and iDrive all fired up and end up reaching in to manually hold the volume button down for 3 seconds to turn it off.

It's just been a FAR different experience with this car and previous vehicles. You could rip a fart right next to it, and it'll turn on. The one thing I hate is the circumstances in which the car powers off after stopping the engine and opening the door. It works, but if you're on a call, you either have to manually swap over to the phone or wait until you get out and lock the car or just power off with the 3 second hold. Same goes for when you open the door after jamming to some music, then tap something by accident and she comes alive.

Ole Betsy and I are constantly fighting to shut er up.

It was done at the dealer In Belgium. Didn't get a notification for over the air update. Mine was delivered in December with 07/2019 and it had to go for another reason and I asked them to upgrade.

Thanks for the updates X5 45e. I will try to ask my dealer to upgrade when I take my car in for fixing the panoramic window.

This has been discussed in previous threads, but I think OTT software updates are starting to rollout, but only on an n-1 version basis, where n = is the newest release.

So I'm currently on 11/2019.34, and for me I wont get an update OTT until BMW releases 07/2020.xx some time in July 2020, and then only to version 03/2020.xx (the previous version to the latest).

Apparently BMW do this to assure stability of the upgrade.

When I do the OTT S/W upgrade check in my car, rather than just "No updates available", it now says .."no current update available for your vehicle" - so something's changed. Bring on July 2020 !

After the update my charging times almost doubled.

Fortunately just because the max power was automatically set back to 6A. Corrected it to 16A and problem solved.

Did the charging time double using regular plug or do you use the BMW Charger?

Regular plug with the normal charger.
But now it is back to normal like I was used to.

How you set it back to 16A?
It is a setting in the charging menu. Ranging from 6 to 16 A. No coding needed.

I just didn't notice at first it was set back to 6A which is the default factory setting.

Anyone having an issue on the 11/2019 SW where the mirror fold doesn't work on locking the car?. I have to keep selecting that every couple of day but then it keeps getting unticked.

Mine doesn’t do that. Did you do a iDrive reboot?

My only issue with that firmware update is my “Home” location in the GPS has to be constantly reset.

Definitely not happening to me. I've had that ticked from Day 1, and they always fold in when I lock the car, great way of visually verifying the car is locked.

It might be your profile, do you use your same key fob? ..is the other fob in range when you approach the car?

My wife keeps her key fob in her handbag, and if she approaches the car first (before me) then when I open the drivers door, her profile shows up - and settings are of course different.

Might be worth rebooting iDrive (hold down the radio volume button for 30 seconds, and it reboots the iDrive system). If that doesn't fix it, delete all profiles and setup a new one.
