Omega Seamaster 300 (James Bond Spectre edition)

Anyone have thoughts on this watch, or have an Omega Seamaster?
http://www.omegawatches.com/watches/...mited-edition/

I currently have a Tag Heuer Link Auto and a Rolex GMT Master II. Will I be disappointed in build quality and movement performance with the Omega?

I really like how the watch looks and that the exclusivity will help it retain value. But I am also considering a Cartier Santos 100 (medium size, leather band, stainless with gold bezel).

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I don't think I'd buy a James Bond watch, but I have a planet ocean and the build quality and finish is fantastic, I certainly would *not* expect you to be disappointed with it.

I have a Tag automatic too, the Omega is a step above the tag and on a par with the GMT in my opinion(although if buying for the GMT function I'd still have the Rolex)

The GMT function is great. I travel between the east and west coast a lot, and while it's only a 3 hr time difference, it's nice having the time zones. When I was abroad in Japan though, I used the full 3 time zone functionality which was pretty cool.

I've tried on the Cartier Santos 100 and really like it, so I'm gonna have to go to an Omega boutique and try this one on too! (Or at least a regular Seamaster 300)

I have a seamaster that was handed down to me by my grandfather. Still looks great and accurate. I've worn it while in the ocean haven't had any issues with fogging, leaks, etc.

Tried the watch on Sunday and loved it. Very heavy and great build quality. The 'Spectre' and '007' elements are very subtle and you wouldn't know unless you knew the watch or looked at the back casing.

They are selling out like crazy too. Only brought 1000 to the US (7007 worldwide). Gonna try and get my hands on one.

Not a fan of the "limited" 007 watches. There's a one for every movie. I'd rather have the regular edition of the watches.

The new seamaster 300 looks too retro for me and the fake yellow lume just screams "imitation".

No, but I wear a watch with that same nato band most days. Now teenagers will think I'm trying to copy Bond and Bond is copying me.

Tried this and a 42mm PO on this weekend.

On this watch: love everything except the lume. The problem with the lume, for me, is that it's trying to look vintage and is completely perfectly even.

Let me put it another way: I just made a distressed kick panel for under my breakfast bar out of cedar TG planks, milk paint, hemp oil, and sanding it. If I PERFECTLY DISTRESSED every piece to look identical, it would look like crap. The act of carefully distressing each piece in it's own way creates the right look.

By comparison the seamaster 300m is not distressed. It's just yellow lume, which doesn't look good for any length of time.

On the PO: I've got a 7" wrist and I've wanted to love the blue PO on blue rubber strap. It's gorgeous. I want to own it. I've tried it on twice and it fits like crap. The watch is simply too tall and doesn't hug the wrist at all. Tons of people love it, not for me.

My wife has a Seamaster Planet Ocean, she loves it. The quality of Omega is excellent, go for it if you like it.

Saw this a few weeks ago and was kind of interested in it. After kooking at it for a while however, I lost interest. It is just alright to me. Too expensive for something that IMO is a little too mediocre.

I agree with the others. The Planet Ocean looks a lot better than the Seamaster 300. It doesn't try to look vintage.

I have a PO. Its an amazing watch, i never get tired of it and the co-ax movement is fantastic. If you like the 300M i would go for it. I wouldn't care about it's lume.

Well... I bit the bullet and went for it... and I'm glad I did! The watch is already bidding on ebay/etc for 1-2k above MSRP. Most private jewelers are completely sold out, and I got one of the last three that the Beverly Center has. No more watches are shipping to the US so stores only have to sell what they still have it stock. All 7,007 have been made, and the UK is completely sold out.

I also think the watch is great for what I need. My daily 'driver' is a Rolex GMT Master II Stainless Steel/black face. It's a perfect every day watch, but it's sporty and its shiny. With the NATO band and the simple black face and bezel, the Seamaster is perfect for when I'm in a suit or tux and want something simply less complicated/showy. And where it's elegance in simplicity is seen on the outside, the watch itself is 'complicated.' It has the great in house Co-Axial calibre 8400 movement from Omega, it resists magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss. It is water-resistant (it is still a diving watch), and it has a two-time zone function (moving the bezel allows you to basically set two hour hands). The watch is stainless steel with sapphire crystal casing on both front and back, and a ceramic and liquid metal bezel. The "Spectre" and "007" markings are VERY subtle and will really only be seen by someone looking for them.

With my purchase, I also got a limited edition bottle of Bollinger Champagne, a coffee table book outlining the history of Omega, a Spectre card and laniard, a leather carrying case, and a portfolio notebook. The watch itself also came with a loop scope, an additional stainless steel band, and a tool to switch bands. The watch also came in a limited edition Spectre Box with an actual number look (guess the code...)

Some photos!

Wow, what a tasty and exclusive watch, nice and subtle, I think only the pro would recognize what a beauty you're wearing.
For me it must do the Xperia Z5 Spectre Edition, theres also a watch inside but less than half the attraction of your watch.

Very cool phone!

I do love the subtle aspect of the Omega though. I have a Rolex GMT and everyone knows its a Rolex.... I'm also on the younger side (22) and wanted something more subtle for law school/job interviews and when wearing a suit/tux. The Omega is a 'sports watch' vs. a cartier or IWC, but is still subtle enough to be considered a dress watch.

Nice purchase, I was looking at the same watch at the Costa Mesa Omega boutique but the Rolex Deep Sea Dweller won me over. I already have a Omega Planet Ocean that is one of my favorites to wear. Once again very nice purchase.

Might go and get it and stick it on the mighty bay !!
