Alpine White
About to pull the trigger - as soon as the MY22 order guide is out - and decided on the Alpine White with Coffee Merino Leather....
But I'm uncertain about the trim (being coffee seats/leather). For those of you with the white/coffee color combo, which trim did you choose, and what are your thoughts? Thank you in advance! |

I have 4KT fine-wood trim poplar grain with coffee. It was a gamble as no demos here had the combo, but a few helpful souls here helped me out with pics. If I remember I'll post a few for you. I'm very happy with the combo - even if the wife thinks it looks a bit old man...

Anthracite matte poplar and coffee is a winner. Alpine White with extended shadowline trim.. Wife loves it. The blend of the wood to the leather is natural and pleasant. Its not aggressive

I was in the same spot a few months ago, Alpine white over Coffee Merino, wondering about the trim. The concern I had with matte popular was natural variability in the finish which some consider a bonus. I ended up going with the matte popular based on reviews from this forum... couldn't be happier.

I have coffee and the matte poplar wood trim as well. They match well - but the question is whether you want the matte trim. You won't get swirl marks but you can dent or scratch them and scratches are not repairable on open pore wood (as far as I am aware), whereas traditional shiny trim can be polished to remove light scratches and swirls.
In terms of looks, I'm liking the poplar wood. But I would be tempted to try the 4KP Fine-wood trim ash grain brown if I were to go again. |

The matte wood finish will compliment your colorway perfectly. The wood with the gloss finish is not as visible since majority of what is seen is shine or reflection.

That's what I chose... looks high end... but does need to be taken care of due to fingerprints and such.

I am awaiting delivery of my ‘21 m50i with Coffee/Poplar Matte (albeit Sapphire Black...although strongly considered Alpine!).
Having had the matte finish in my ‘19 X3 m40i, I really have become partial to matte as I think it’s sophisticated and looks a bit more authentically wood vs. the lacquer finish- I also love how it does not smudge as some of the other finishes, and does not get extremely hot as does the metal finish. |
