Why Pay Destination Charge If Doing PCD?

Is it reasonable to pay for the Destination Charge ($995), if I am going to Spartanburg, SC to pick up vehicle?

Yes, the destination charge is applied to all vehicles no matter where they are shipped to, even if it is just from the factory to the PC.

Maybe think of it as a $995/night Marriott?

I'm not sure if the same reasoning applies to BMW, but folks who order Corvettes deal with the same when opting for Museum Delivery. The reason is that the trucking company has negotiated a contract that states that they are to deliver all Corvettes produced and delivered (at least in the US). Given that the final destinations can be spread all over the country and the cost to deliver each would range widely based on proximity to the factory, they have agreed to a standard delivery charge that applies to any US vehicle regardless of the distance transported. This prevents buyers from paying more if they live further from the production site. In the case of Corvette, the cars are loaded on trucks at the factory and driven the ~1 mile to the museum and then offloaded.

Same reasoning applies and well put!

No! People that live in SC should pay much less than people that live on the West Coast!

Why would you say it is the same? It costs them more to ship a vehicle to CA than someplace in SC. In theory the $995 is an average cost for all vehicles but in reality it is just a way to get extra revenue without having to raise there MSRP.

Don't forget all the tires and brakes you are going to burn up on the track.

Why are we questioning this not the fact that it cost the same to ship a car assembled overseas

You mean to tell me a so called luxury brand doesn't have air conditioning in their assembly plant? Back in the 90's, I took a tour of the Honda assembly plant in Ohio and it was air conditioned.

I am trying to see when a PC delivery date could be had if it fits my schedule with summer programs, so are you saying it wasn't worth it? I agree that $995 is weird when you are going there to get it. You'd think they should give some credit. I did a delivery on X3 in 2013 but don't remember the factory tour, lol. I remember everything else that day.

PCD is totally worth it.

As stated, everybody in the USA pays $995 destination, regardless how you take delivery. Those costs used for PCD program expenses if you take delivery there.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. (see my journal in my signature if you haven't already)
