That is interesting. As far as I know the 2022 pricing/ordering guides have not been released yet and of course neither have allocations. More than likely they are just holding the order and hoping there isn't too much of a change in price/options.

I've been shopping around and I agree with Turtle ... things appear to be in a holding pattern right now. There are a few dealers who appear to have 2021 allocations left but those seemed to start drying up last week.

Seems like right now we're in a holding pattern until 2022 info is out

I think you are right, probably best to hold off until MY22. Not only should allocations be more plentiful but hopefully some lost options will be back.

According to my dealer, 2021 X5 orders are closing soon. The X5 will get some minor changes for 2022 and 2022 orders won't open until August, possibly September since they plan to have all options back for 2022 X5 orders.

Thanks for the info, I was lucky that someone i this forum put me in contact with a dealer which had an allocation. It should be a week 24 allocation so crossing my fingers that it will get built.

Wonder what the changes are.

Thanks. I have Dark Graphite with Tartufo. Loved arctic gray too. Now the excruciating wait and hoping they don't take away more options. Will be following your progress closely as I am a week behind. Good luck!
I love dark graphite! I have been debating for days between arctic gray and dark graphite: definitely my top two color choices for the X5. Eventually I went arctic gray after seeing an AG X7 in the dealership parking lot in the sun and that was it, I was sold on that color :-)
I will definitely keep you filled in on what happens with my order: I sure hope no last minute surprises... The Genius I spoke to earlier this week told me that I should get a VIN next week: we'll see if that happens and if everything is confirmed when that happens... Weird times for certain.

Did you have a 21 allocation?

I had to search around to find an out of state dealer that had one. There is a dealer in Nebraska that had a M21 allocation, I can send you his contact if your are interested. He matched my deal and would ship at a reasonable price.

Why is the 22 allocation so worrying for people? Loss of features?

Presumably it's because you'll need to wait a long time to actually receive your new vehicle.

Personally I rushed to get a My21 for three reasons, 1. I made the decision to get a new car and didn't want to wait 5 months. 2. I got a discount and given the current demand and market pressures I think the price for the My22 will go up and less discount will be available 3. Rumor of no M package available (which I doubt will happen)

At this point in the year, I would never get a current year vehicle. It will be a year old vehicle in a few months.

Certainly one point of view. But with limited supply, component shortages, strong demand, and inflationary tailwinds, you'd have to think MSRP is going up, perhaps more than in recent years past.

✘ Loss of features,
✘ Price increases,
✘ Stock, allocations, availability,
✘ New giant heinous beaverface grille,
✘ loss of desired options / colors
✘ Unwanted changes (switchgear, displays)

I could go on ...

I'm trying to order a San Marino Blue 45e... I was told if I ordered now I would get a '22 model slated for the first week of July. Bowers and Wilkins would be available for it

Highly unlikely. The model year for the X5 usually starts in August. Given the ordering/pricing guides are later than usual I would doubt they will be moving up the start of the model year.

How does that work? Do you pay the MY21 or MY22 price?

I ordered my 45e first of May, loaded it out... 2 days later I was told no HK, and my luxury seats may drop off. Being in Florida a car with Ventilated seats is a must on our list. I kept seeing on here people loosing enhanced Bluetooth, wireless charging, even air suspension, which makes no sense whatsoever. I went on my garage saw my vin number and all the check marks on the options..really excited, my car is finished tomorrow...

Based on X7 ordering guide. Those holding out for my22 is SOL.HK wont be back. So it will prob be the same on theX5.

Ha, quite a coincidence: I ordered my 45e on your very same day (May 1) and you're currently one day ahead of me: mine is supposed to be completed on Thursday!

Congratulations: hope you get yours delivered very soon!

My CA told me that they just received a ton of M3/4 allocations this morning (2022). So maybe X5/X7 allocations should be coming shortly.

We have decided to wait to order MY22 for our M50i as we just decided to replace the dog hauler/travel SQ5 with one last week and we prefer to order.

I am told by the sales manager that he should have allocation in a month or so.
