Exiting 2021 X5M Competition

Hello friends. I'm a long time reader, first time poster. I just picked up a 2021 X5M competition. I post this in all seriousness.

When I got out of the driver's seat, I noticed the seat bolster next to my left thigh was stiff. This made getting out of the car was a bit difficult. Unfortunately, about 3 hours ago, when I was getting out of the car, the bolster hit my balls on the way out and I folded to the ground.

Is there a special way of getting out? I have had multiple SUVs in the past and I usually just slide out. When I Instinctually did this today, I was left in the fetal position.

I am now considering getting running boards to set my foot on it when I exit. Am I the only one running into this issue?

Thanks in advance!

We used to howl in laughter when my dad used to get caught in the bolster and moan "my testicles are caught". That was in the 89 or 90 and her was in his mid 70's then. Need to change the type of underwear or maybe you need to get something with less performance seating.

I have this vehicle as well and it is a challenge but if you pay attention you can keep the "boys" happy.

Great stuff Man!
I was seriously considering the X5M Comp but just could not deal with that seat configuration and went with the M50i which I am extremely pleased with. I get the bolstering in a higher performing vehicle and all that jazz but C'mon Man, this is is an SUV not a Z06 or 911. They do look very cool however.

My C7 Z06 is easier to get in and out of than the X5M! No fricking joke.

She works with my nuts until
She'll do it, do it, do it

It's not funny but I was just speaking to my wife about this same issue.
The seats are great once you actually get in but I have had this happen to me on at least three occasions. It does not help that I'm pretty close to the side wall in my garage.

Yes, exactly. I'm trying to figure out a solution. My balls are normal sized, I'm not super short and I never had this problem with other SUVs (Range Rover, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Pathfinder) or my McLaren. It's when I slide out, the boys are at risk.

I know it's sac-religious to get runner boards on an X5MC but I might have to.

Never a dull moment on Bimmerpost, except that dull pain you feel in your stomach when you drag your jewels across the seat bolster...

Are these the same seats in the M5? I found my M5 seats to be very comfortable and never experienced this issue, perhaps because I was "standing up" to exit the vehicle.

I dont know how you guys deal with the aggressive seat bolsters. It feels like they are made of metal. I was already uncomfortable on my test drive. My hips were actually sore.

Kind of a big let down.

I wish bmw would offer comfort seats with the x M versions since 99.9% of owners are not tracking a 3 ton monster.

I am no longer looking at the X6M because of it and looking either at M50i or other brands. The RSQ8 bolsters are much softer. Test drove one today.

Sorry but that is why they make the M50 Personally this is the wife daily driver vehicle but we both very much like these seats. One reason we bought one.

Conclusion - not the best car if you have low hanging balls or shall we say wide hips.

The only way around this issue is to step wide into the vehicle. In my case when I'm out of my garage then it's not bad at all. Due to the fact I don't have much space when getting out in my garage then it's a drag. Never had this issue with my RS5.

I was looking at the build sheet for my 2021 X5MC and noticed that it has and option code LBC. I asked the service advisor and he said that's a special seat option, low balls clearance option. It's part of the wide hips executive package for people with low hanging balls.

i'm squeezing my legs together reading this thread

the way i exit the car is to push off with my left leg so that my ass is pushed upwards as i exit, thereby bypassing the seat bolster. rubber mats help with traction when pushing off. USA guys with left hand drive cars would push off on exit using their right leg of course (taking care not to bump your head on the way out!).

"most surreal thread" award to this thread

Former M5C competition owner. Sold it to get a 992 because I valued the lightness and sportiness of the Porsche, but now I want an M5 as a highway cruiser and general daily driver. Honestly I think the ground clearance and stance of the X5M is just as delightful.

I test drove one this summer to see if I'd like it, and no joke I experienced this same thing. It totally mashed my nuts as I slid out of the seat. I didn't fall over, but it wasn't comfortable that's for sure.

I never had this in the M5s I've owned and I chalk that up to having to stand up to get out of the seat rather than just kind of lean out in the X5.
