Are those settings for sport individual? I coded for the M display and adaptive. don't recall seeing those settings in sport. haven't tried sport individual.

Yep, I agree there - it looks very cool.

If they fixed up the driving mode, and bring down the speedo scale to show a max of somewhere from 250-300km/h - it would definitely be my choice.

I don't know why they show up to 340km/h, even the 50i car is electronically speed limited to around 270km/h (168mp/h) I think?

That's an M5 Competition instrument cluster, not an X5 or X5M.

That screenshot is from a 2020 F90 M5 Competition, the first F90 M5 with the upgraded digital dash and I believe the first M-car that uses this gauge layout with the new BMW digital cluster. I suspect the X3M/X4M Competition LCI and then the G80/G82 M3/M4 will be the next M-cars to use this digital dash layout too when they come out.

The M-cars (including my F80 M3, which I am familiar with) have separate buttons for each component, just as indicated on the cluster. But they have mostly the same settings (like Sport and Sport Plus for the engine and suspension for example). Not exactly sure if the non-M cars (like the X5 & X7) can be mapped to this cluster yet, but I hoping with a little time it can be figured out, especially when more of the new M-cars are on the road.

Well today I tried out Comfort Plus which I recently coded, for around a 20-30 minute drive, and the main thing I noticed was the subtle, gentle and spread-out changes by the transmission.

Changes are definitely more subtle than plain Comfort mode, and there is a high reluctance/resistance to kick-down. I tried kick-down a few times and yes it dropped a gear (maybe 2), but definitely not lick Adaptive or Sport Plus which drops ~3+ gears.

I struggled to feel any difference in the suspension (I've got the Adaptive M-Suspension, not Air), but thought at times it may have been a touch softer than plain Comfort.

For the last 10 minutes I went back to Adaptive mode, and still prefer it. Overall makes the car more drive-able (transmission/gear wise), with a nice comfortable suspension setting.

Overall I like Comfort Plus; I'm gad I coded it, and prefer it to plain Comfort mode if all I want to do is gentle cruise with the family.

On a related front, I finally bought BimmerLink; which allows you to measure the turbo boost in real-time. I re-coded the Xtraboost function in BDC and HU_MGU to see if it made any difference, and NO DIFFERENCE when compared to Sport Plus mode.
I've also since found out that Xtraboost is a feature offered on the hybrid/electric vehicles like the X5 45e and 330e, and has something to do with adding extra boost with the electric motor - so no point trying it if you only have a car that runs on gas.

Comfort Plus sounds a lot like Eco Pro. What's the difference?

Slight adjustment to your observation: It sounds a lot like Eco Pro drivability without Eco Pro efficiency :-).

Will do, I know the ECUs but can't remember the specific lines - I'll get them tonight for you - and update this post.

UPDATED: to code Comfort Plus driving mode:-

Access HU_MGU (Head-unit) ECU:
1. Go into Expert mode
2. Go to 3008 FES module, and change:
- FES_COMFORT_PLUS to Aktiv
CODE

Access BDC (Body Domain Controller) ECU:
1. Go into Expert mode
2. Find PfFesMaster and change the following two:
- FesPiaDefaultComfortWorldMode and change to "ComfortPlus"
- FesComfortWorldMode1 and change to "ComfortPlus"
CODE

You should be good to go from there, ComfortPlus should be selectable from the Comfort switch by pressing twice, and via iDrive driving mode menus.

Thinking of purchasing Bimmercode for my new 2020 X5. Was curious if their are opinions on the best/most reliable/easiest to use OBD adapter? Also, through Bimmercode can you disable interior movement alarm? Would be really helpful as my dog enjoys hanging in the car while I'm out on errands. Thanks all in advance.

You should be able to disable the motion sensor with your key fob as originally configured from the factory. Usually you can do it by pressing the lock button (first to lock your car), then pressing the lock button again within 10 seconds of the first lock button press to disable the motion sensor.

When I was starting out with coding I didn't know which adapter to get, so I ended up bet the MX+ bluetooth. Then I wanted to use Esys so I ended up getting an Enet + USB adapter to hook my computer up. While I was at it, I ended up buying a lightning adapter for the Enet cable (since I'm on an iPhone). Looking back, if I had to do it all over again, I would bypass buying the MX+ bluetooth adapter and just going straight for the Enet + adapter route. The Enet cable is so much faster - it literally takes seconds to read an ECU whereas the MX+ would take well over a minute, if the ECU had a lot of modules. On top of that it's about 1/2 the price to go this route.

The only discernible advantage I could glean from the MX+ BT adapter was if you plan on leaving in the adapter all the time - say if you like to code on the fly. I'm not that person, so there was no advantage for me.

With all that being said - I have an MX+ BT adapter I'll sell to anyone looking for one

VTENGR,
Does going your route (Esys) necessitate a Windows puter only?

Well... I'm no IT expert but from what I understood you needed a windows computer. However, I do remember reading somewhere on here that a poster was able to use Esys with a windows virtual machine (is that what you call them) on a Mac?

I have been using an older Vgate WiFi adapter for a while on my F80 M3. It was noticeably slower on the X7, but I don't know if the latency was due to my WiFi adapter's age or if the G-Series cars are just more processor intensive for any WiFi adapter. I recently purchased the Ethernet to Lightning adapter (for iOS) to use with my ENET cable. I am not sure if Android has a similar adapter, but I think one is available. It is VERY fast (as you would expect for a wired connection) and is my connection of choice for now.

Yeah, there are a couple of ways to run Window's based programs on a Mac, you can use the dual boot feature or run a program called Parallels which gives you the virtual method. I believe there are or used to be a couple of other ways but I have the Mac 27" desktop, not a practical machine to lug out to the garage

I use Veepeak OBDCheck BLE+ on m X3, its a bit slow but not that bad on the X3 which doesn't have nearly the number of puters the X5 has.

That is my setup. I have E-Sys and ISTA-D (the BMW diagnostic software) installed on a Windows 10 partition on my MacBook Pro using the BootCamp utility that comes with all Mac operating systems. I have not updated my BMW software tools to work with the G-series cars though since I just got my X7 (and prefer to use BimmerCode for coding)....

Yesterday, I used BimmerCode for the first time. I bought the ethernet and lightning adapter and found it very easy to use. The settings reminded me of my old VW (VAG-com)years ago but with a much easier interface. Still holding out hope for a few more settings:

1) Truck lid closure with the key fob and front door switch.

2). Heated steering wheel on with remote start. (I believe I read this is available with the 11/19 update).

3) Foglights on automatically with low beams. Why isn’t this default like so many other cars?

I also use the MX+ Bluetooth adapter for Bimmer Code on iOS. I didn't even think about getting a lightning to ethernet adapter. I already have the ethernet (Enet) OBD cable.

E-Sys is Windows based but can easily run on a Mac. I use a MacBook for E-Sys. Bootcamp, as already mentioned is freely available on any modern MacOS device. Virtual machines such as Parallels or Fusion (by VMWare) are also good options to run Windows programs on a Mac.

E-Sys is certainly more powerful and flexible than BimmerCode but it's also much more involved.

I'm using the MX, it works great and easy but they were harder to buy for me.
