Hi - I did my due diligence and searched these threads to look for the answer so I apologize if this has already been discussed. I have a 2020 X5 and have read that if you diable the lane departure warning you get a smoother active driving assistant experience?

Do you agree? What other settings are best to make the "self-driving" BMW the smoothest? i've found that it tends to bounce back and forth between the lines during highway driving over 40 mph.

Do not disable, just set it to "Early" intervention.
I do not believe in disabling any safety feature.

It should not do that.

Indeed. Most recent firmware. Just doesn't seem to keep me straight in line and seems to very subtly "bounce" between the lane markers. Thank you for your reccs!

I deactivated the 'pushing back' of the steering wheel in the 'Active Lane Control'. Kept the vibration warning on.

Found that the pushing back sometimes created unsafe situations. Two most common situations.

* when two highway lanes merge into one. (Or the opposite one lane becomes two). In The Netherlands when two highways merge it's very common that the two middle lanes merge into one. Got a few close calls due to the swerving caused by the lane control.

* when overtaking large and slow vehicles like tractors and other farming machines. There is a large difference in speed and suddenly the lane assists pushes you back towards your lane. Very scary.

I agree with Wout, the active lane control can be really scary in certain situations. I set it up in the same way, no active steering intervention and only vibration

Echoing what others are saying about the steering intervention. I ended up turning it down and getting rid of the wheel vibration. I couldnt tell if it was the steering wheel or the rumble strips in the road making the ride obnoxious.

But, i would not turn any of these features off. I've learned to live with them, since it has been useful. With everyone out walking and what not, the extra safety features (especially the pedestrian detection) makes me less nervous.

same. the vibration is a lot more pronounced in the F15 than the G05. half the time I cant even feel it that I'm drifting out of the lane, but if its real quiet in the car, then I can at least hear it.

I use it everyday and never had that problem for >1year. Alingnment issue maybe?

Just had my firmware updated yesterday from, regretted waited this long. The lane change feature is quick and adapted to more streets.

I've got a 2021 BMW X5. I have been unable to turn off the "pushing back into the lane" component while keeping the vibration in the steering wheel. Please explain how you did that. Thank you very much, Steve

I tried those settings and I end up with neither the "pushing back" nor the steering wheel vibration. I do NOT want the pushing back to take place, but I do want the feedback vibration in the steering wheel.
