Had the car over a week now - love it!

Not managed to wash it as it would just get dirty straight away at the moment. Some pics I took earlier today...

Looks great even when dirty. Seeing yours, I’m still pleased I stuck with 20 inch wheels as they look great and I’m sick of potholes wrecking my current Audi wheels.

How are you finding it drives in the snow? My only experience with BMWs in the snow has been RWDs which were a total disaster as soon as the first snowflakes landed.

Hopefully the Tier 4 restrictions won’t impact my delivery on Wednesday 6th.

Looks good Gary - same colour of exterior and interior as me. How's the engine? I know there's a run in mileage but I had the same engine in an M140 and the pick up was tremendous at low revs - hardly needed to take it over 4000 rpm.

Ideal timing to get it with the snow. I managed to get my RWD 530e stuck in my street a few days ago - 45e can't come quick enough.

The roads aren’t too bad round here (as can be seen in the pics) so wouldn’t want to comment too much! It’s totally fine in that slushy mess you get when it starts to melt!

Engine is great! And although I’d read about it in reviews, I wasn’t expecting not to notice when the ICE and electric motor interchange - it’s really very clever!

I’ve only done about 400 miles and haven’t put it in Sport mode yet but certainly standard A-road driving and overtaking is effortless.

Mine will also be used to tow a caravan - when restrictions allow - and I have no doubt the engine will be more than enough for the task.

I got a confirmation text today - looks like the national lockdown hasn't affected me and my car is being delivered tomorrow. I'll be like a child on Christmas Eve going to bed tonight

Enjoying it?

I've only been in an X5 once before a few years ago when I test drove a 40d - really liked the driving position / size / general experience. With the 45e I'm looking forward to that plus having the petrol engine (albeit slightly detuned) that I had in the M140 - fantastic engine.

It's a pity there's nowhere to go - would have been embarking on a circa 80 mile round trip "down the coast" within a few hours of delivery had it not been for the travel restrictions!

Yes, it's a brilliant car. It's nice to drive in electric, but that engine is fantastic in sport mode - it sounds lovely and I don't care if it's a real noise or just piped in via the speakers.

I've come from a 3.0 V6 Audi A6 which had loads of torque but the combination of electric for instant torque and power, plus a very quick to respond petrol engine when you need the big guns, is a great combination.

Even though I work in IT, I've found the car quite complicated for the first couple of days - probably because I spec'd lots of extra tech and wanted to use it all at once. But I'm already getting used to it now.

Finally the day has come! Arrived at 7.30 this morning - managed to get the mats changed over before work kicked off and not had a chance to look at it since - hopefully get a short drive in it later.

I was wondering how you'd get on with the current weather, and I'm glad to see it arrived.

Enjoy, I'm sure it's going to be worth the wait. I like the mats - are those the genuine BMW ones?

They are yes - ideal for current weather.

Although after 2 miles the car has broken down - just made a post to see if anyone has any ideas whilst I wait for BMW emergency services to arrive.

Strangely, when I unplugged the car the pulsar plus Wallbox was lit up red - never seen that before on my 530e.

It drove away fine but after a 2 mile trip it's packed in, sitting sideways blocking my whole street, the joys!

None the wiser...BMW dealership plugged it in, couldn't find anything and cleared the error code and returned the car - hope no more events like that.

On another note - gesture control has been disabled after about 10 miles - I think something i was doing on gesture control (despite not making any gestures) was making the navigation set to my home address.

Lane departure warning is next on the disable list - less annoying than the above but annoying all the same!
