I actually used a broker on this one for the first time as I just didn't have the fortitude or time to haggle/negotiate to find the deal I could sleep with.
Broker got back to me in under an hour giving me the flat % off on a 2019 order. I was happy and we moved forward. When Leather Dash spec for final week 2019 build wasn't guaranteed as available, instead of sweating it we just decided to spec their first 2020 allocation. Dealer honored the same % as was offered on the 2019, and I had no concerns from there. No pen has been put to paper yet on the deal, so I defer on providing a judgment on the experience at this time. I do know the dealership, as I went there to spec the allocation in person, but I am not comfortable putting that out there as my broker has a very good relationship with this dealership. I've got no desire to put him in a cut-out situation; I'm hoping that this brokered lease is the beginning of a beautiful friendship between the broker and myself. I tend to have one of my vehicles outbound and being replaced at 18-20 month intervals - If he can save me hours on each one, the service will be even more worthwhile. Once I've got the deal signed I'd feel comfortable making a broker recommendation, but again, without pen to paper, I don't want to give a recommendation that burns a forum member. I'm the guinea pig here, and totally accept that role.

Going through this thread, Im wondering - when people mention some crazy MSRP discounts for X5 2020 model (9%, 10%, 11%) - does it matter if it is part of the lease offer or not?
Im planning to buy with cash and the best deal I've got so far from one of the local dealerships - is 6.5% off MSRP (im in North California). Should I press for more? Or those juicy deals are exclusive to lease options? Last edited by PavelD; 08-19-2019 at 11:23 AM.. |

No they are not exclusive to lease purchases but the dealer would want you to do financing because that gives them more to work with on the performance-based incentives/kick backs they have from BMW. So you have to be prepared to finance but you can payoff the loan in 3 months w/o penalty and put a very high down payment to reduce the interest payments during those 3 months. Discount depends on competition in your area. You need to shop around and get a competition going if possible, all depends on the number of dealerships near you. With competition 10% is hard to get but with enough time and the right approach is doable. 11% is the max I have been able to get and needs more time and effort. This is on a 2020 factory order. I have also seen others here say you can order from a remote dealer and have it trucked to you for an extra fee. So if you can't get your nearby dealers to compete, then try the nearest major metro area.

My lease on my current X5 ends in December, I'm guessing there is no pull ahead? however BMW Portland have sent me a letter telling me that they can get me into a 2019 X5 with a savings of 6250.. I'm not that naive.. (maybe I am )
End of the day I'm interested in a Carbon Black ( so M-Sport ) 22 inch wheels and Premium Package Tow Hitch Some form of upgraded sound system. my current is a 2016 ( was a good deal because it sat on the lot for a while ). Looking for some guidance - I should be better at this, but appreciate any help. |

In another month or two I'd begin expecting a pretty hefty discount on 2019 inventory (like more than 10%) Depending on where you're located, you could just go for a 2020 build and aim for a 10% off msrp, and as long as you land anywhere between 8-10% I"d say that's a pretty good deal. |

does it seem reasonable to ask for a higher discount than 6% off msrp for a 2020 order in the nyc area? i just spoke with a CA in Brooklyn BMW, and i can't remember the exact build amount, $67-$68k, but was quoted $790/mth with 10k lease. somebody i know indirectly had a 2019 x5 with almost $70k msrp got it for $745/mth with 10k lease earlier this year.

Currently considering trading in my G01 X3 due to uncomfortable seats for a 2019 G05 in Central PA...getting quoted 10% pre loyalty and financing rebate. Dealer seems to have stopped there. Should I be pushing for more? They have also increased the value of my trade by $1,500 since the beginning of negotiations, in case that matters. They would argue that some of my potential discount has gone into boosting my trade in value. Not sure I buy that.

I think good practice is to not tell them you have a trade in (obviously a moot point now). The goal is to negotiate the price of the car as if you don't have a trade-in or are unsure if you'll be trading in your car or not. Once a price is agreed upon, then you can feel free to try and negotiate the value of the trade-in separately.
Otherwise, the dealership will do exactly what you described, so they're not wrong in what they're saying. I would suggest looking at other sources such as carmax and carvana to see what they'd be willing to offer for your car, and use that as a benchmark for what your trade in is worth. As for the 2019 G05, definitely aim for over 10%. |

Gosh darn it. I don't know how some of you are getting close to 9% off MSRP discount for 2020 models. What's your secret?
My dealer won't budge past 5.3% off MSRP (MSRP = 71,820 which includes dest fee). I offered as low as 7% off MSRP and he would not take that. No mfr incentives. He knows we're ready to put down a deposit for an custom order. |

But regardless, once you get multiple dealerships bidding for your business, you should inherently see larger discounts than if you simply go to one or two dealers. Take one quote to a different dealer, ask them if they can beat it, if they can, then take that to another dealer, rinse and repeat. I also advise on reaching out by email and asking for a quote on a specific build rather than physically going in to the dealership. Only go in to the dealership once you've settled on a price and are ready to put the deposit down. Maybe check with 4-5 dealers near the Detroit area to see if you get a better deal there? |

I am thinking of doing a custom 2020 and might go through the process of ordering it from another out of state dealer . EDIT: NVM it is against the rules. I will just use the area as reference. Thanks |

Going back to the first page of this thread, it looks like the financing credit for MY2019 started in October. Hard to predict when any type of incentives will start for MY2020 but maybe this fall. I was actually surprised to see they were offering incentives last fall on a new refresh.
