I’m in the market and test drove a 2022 X5MC today and noticed a bit of a delay when pushing down the accelerator. Is that normal and is there a way to eliminate it?

Verify which mode you're in. I only drive on sport plus, d2 on tranny and everything else turned up except suspension and steering. Makes a big difference in initial throttle response.

Mild hybrid 48V system is mostly just to improve start-stop functionality, and be able to stay off at a light for longer period of time. Minimal to no performance benefit, small efficiency benefit. Different ECU tune for 24 is most likely making the difference you feel. If it was a hybrid lets say as Cayenne, you would feel quiet a bit of difference.

whatever BMW did with the LCI, the lag vs the non-LCI is way better.

I agree that it must help with initial acceleration as the V8 is down a lot of torque vs non LCI and that’s a lot of torque just to make start/stop smoother.

I have an X7 M60 LCI with the S68 and mild hybrid system. One of the most common complaints amongst reviewers (and myself) is that there is a short lag between putting your foot down and the engine doing anything. Basically the car is dead from a complete stop for a split second before doing anything. No known fix unfortunately (this isn’t turbo lag).

100% the LCI has zero lag even in comfort mode and the only difference in switching to sport and sport plus is the level of thrust increases. The pre-LCI has major lag in comfort mode and it gets reduced a lot in sport mode and even more so in sport plus, but it is slightly still there. It's noticeable off the line going against a Tesla. Seems like everyone that doesn't have a LCI doesn't want to believe that the 48V battery actual gave it an improvement.

I didn't drive the older versions, but there is no lack of immediate thrust now.
Of course if I wasn't wanting to dump into a lease or take on horrible depreciation I wouldn't hesitate to throw a pedal commander at an older model. Those really work over at Porsche, where some have an awful pedal out of the hole. I'd at least be doing some reading about it. |

I have a Pre LCI and there is no lag. If anything its too responsive sometimes when everything is turned up.
