actually chamras, I had the car towed 60 miles to an BMW NA authorized collision repair shop, but they told me that there was no hope. Since the impact of the car was not head on--rather an offset head on, most of then energy was transfered through the frame--which was heavily damaged, even the roof showed a small spot where it indented. They also said major suspension, engine, trans damage. They totalled it out to $44,000.

Hope you will recovered soon. I think your car can be fix but only with new replacement parts like hood, front bumper, headlight, front grill and all the body parts under the hood. Most important thing is to have it fix at authorized BMW dealer if they do have a bodyshop of thier own. This way you will get all original part by BMW.

I’m very sorry to hear about your accident. I hope you are feeling better. One positive here is that this was basically a real-world crash test, and you came away mostly OK. I know I tend to forget that BMW is not only a fun car to drive, but a rather safe one. It sounds like all the safety features were there and working properly when you needed them. Since most of us here are also driving E90’s this is welcome news. Again, I hope your recover quickly and get back on the road soon.

New to the forum, but happy to see that you are okay.
Safety comes first which is what attracted me to BMW. You get safety and performance, all in one package. |

Dear Hotsand5, I am so sorry to hear that. From the damages that I saw on the screen I didn't noticed that it would cost so much damage. It was a long way that you towed 60 miles to BMW N.A. The impact must be so hard as I saw the Lexus was on somebody elses lawn. This is very sad because of that stupid kid ran through a stop sign. I ever studied in New York before and I lived on Staten Island. I ever ran through to stop sign once late at night with no traffic and I got summon from the cops. That kid should obey the law. I hope his insurance will cover for your damages. Since BMW N.A. already estimated the repair cost and I am sure they will pay for the damage. The question is how fast can they process the claim and issue a cheque. If this much damage I assume you will go with a new car. I know how much you love your car and I am sure everybody love thier bimmer. Hope everything will turn out ok for you and get a new bimmer.

At first I didn't know that the damage was so bad. With that cost of repair, it better off replace it.

Yes.... with the repair cost o 44k, it would consider a total loss, in my country the insurance company would take months to pay you or consider it a total loss.

actually ek9hatch00, I can't get another new one for that much. The sticker is about 44,000 and then add fees, dealer costs, and 9% chicago tax, and you are flirting with $48-49,000. Yeah, I can buy a used one, but not new with the same amount of money. The problem is that I was not able to find another used one just like mine...w/ all the packages, manual trans, and nav.

oh.. my god, the sticker price is 44K + dealer cost and added fee? So expensive. I didn't know Chicago tax is now 9%, so high indeed. This is not a good news for you. Maybe try looking for someone that are selling his car which is still brand new, maybe a few thousand miles on it without any accident. I mean in good condition, this way the price will be cheaper. Hope that the insurance will pay you the maximum amount. Good luck and let us know....

That stinks.. Why don't you just do another Euro Delivery? I have an almost identically optioned car. You could easily get it for less than $44 total, plus get another trip to Munich to remember, even if you decide to only stay a couple of days.

Aw, it looks like it should buff right out with some rubbing compound. : )
Sorry about the mess. Our E90 got rear-ended last week but thankfully by a motorcycle and far less damage was done. Especially to my wife and co-workers in the car, who were unharmed. |

The good news is you are here to talk (or type) about it... If it is the other guys fault, I would fight to get it totaled. Tell his insurance company that even if they do a great job fixing it, you will suffer from "diminished value", and that you want to be compensated... I will say I had a pretty bad accident with my e46 & it drove very nicely after repairs..

...well I guess that I must have been a really bad person in my past life. I was rear ended my chevy impala twice, then got a dakota and was hit (not totalled), had a 03 vw jetta gli and the dealer forgot to bolt all the bolts from the axle to the trans (that was over $10k in damages after the axle ripped the trans case out, and had to take them to court to get my money back), a 04' suzuki gsxr 750 motorcycle, totalled when a car made a left turn in front of me, and now finally the 06 330i. Not one was my fault and all of this and I'm just about to turn 25! Thanks for the support though guys!
