How to keep cameras in "auto" mode whilst parking
I've had my X5 about a month. One thing that keeps vexing me is I can't figure out how it's deciding which camera to display when I'm parking. I have the Parking Assistance package, for what it's worth.
It reliably displays the rear camera when I switch into reverse, but it doesn't shift back to the forward camera when I'm going forward. I manually select "auto" camera view and then it will switch back and forth if I'm maneuvering into a parking spot between forward and reverse gears. But the next time I activate the cameras, it has forgotten the 'auto' camera selection and when I shift back into drive after backing up, the camera stays on in reverse. It seems like if I press the parking button on the console that it's better about this behavior, but I'm hoping that there's a way to just set it so that whenever it activates the camera it then auto-switches between front and rear. I read and re-read the manual section on this but it's not terribly illuminating, like much of the manual. Is there a setting I'm missing? Or a behavior I need to adopt to make it do what I want? There is some coding out there that can be done to accomplish what you want but without that it can't be. When the G05's first came out the default behavior was what you, and most people, what but BMW "fixed" the issue in an update so it operates like it does now. That is there intent for some reason.
As an aside, the Parking Assistance Professional package is not available for the X5, only the Parking Assistance Package is.

Hi all. I have a 2024 M8 Coupe (F92). Since e-sys is obsolete, is there any way to code the auto camera function (I'm in the US) with either BimmerCode or BimmerUtility? I'm coming from an older Mercedes AMG, and it's crazy to me this feature isn't turned on! Thanks in advance.

Bump. Any way to code this with the latest versions of BimmerCode or BimmerUtility? I have the ENET cable and Expert mode.
The code I've found elsewhere is: ICAMx[8081]\C_XV3D_COUNTRYVARIANT_NEXTMODE change from 'USA' to 'allgmein' Thanks! |
