Remote Software Upgrade for iPhone Users
For all you folks using an iPhone and struggling with uploading the software upgrade into your BMW after downloading the upgrade into your iPhone, here is what worked immediately for me: Using my iPhone 13, all I had to do was follow the good example of a previous post and go into Settings, then My BMW App, then make sure that Local Network was turned ON. As soon as I did that, all I had to do was open the app and start driving. The upload to my 2021 X5 took less than 1 hour of total driving. Then the screen prompted me to install the upload to my parked car which successfully completed in 20 minutes. I sure hope this helps all those who, like me, have spent dozens of hours driving around with the download not uploading to their BMW even with bluetooth, wi-fi and apps all showing green in the app! The remote software upgrade tutorial should mention this important step for iPhone users.

Software Update not installing 03/2023.50
I had same issues as everyone else using my iPhone. When I went into my iPhone 1)Settings - 2)My BMW and opened the 3)Local Network the upgrade immediately started ito upload (iPhone to car) and (just now) received a message from my car that the Remote Software Upgrade was completed. Easy fix but very frustrating in getting to the fix.

Same issue. I have just been waiting to see if it will eventually resolve. I'll try the trickle charger. I avoid the dealership here whenever I possibly can, but if that doesn't work, then I guess I'll take it in or wait for the next update and take it in at that time.

One could argue that since it was downloaded there is one available site it says it will notify when it is ready to install but the SIB says when that screen is present then the customer complaint is not justified. Let us know how yours turns out.

I read the entire bulletin. It doesn't state anywhere that if the vehicle does have at least the 07/2021 update, then no updates will be allowed under warranty. What am I missing?

So I've just charged my battery up to 100% and still don't get the prompt to install. It's been uploaded to the car for 2 months now. The process of sending from my iPhone to the car went smoothly but no install prompt. I suspect it will time out soon.

have you enabled Local Network in the iPhone settings for the MyBMW app? this has resolved installation issues for some

Both the 11/22 and the 3/23 updates failed to install in my car after they were successfully uploaded. Last week I took the car to the dealer for the problem thinking they would install the latest 7/23 update. Instead they used a mybmw app with my credentials and somehow got the 3/23 update to install. I asked the technician what condition was not met that caused me to be unable to install the update. He had no idea. I had done everything including charging the battery, having the setting for local network on, parking brake, level, etc. etc.
I'm guessing that when the 7/23 update becomes available via OTA it will fail to install after being uploaded just like the others. |

following, Samsung S23 Ultra and the phone says its ready to install, but with the vehicle in park there is no prompt to begin install. And of course the dealer says they will install the software but 1) they will charge me for it and 2) they want me to sign a waiver that if something goes wrong with the new software that it wont be covered under warranty. Such BS
