Is there any way to defeat this horrible feature? it came since the last 11.2023.50 update and annoys the heck out of me. Every snowy morning (it's always snowy here in Canada) it overrides my stereo and yells at me about pretty much every intersection being a danger. Did it at least a dozen times just driving in to the shop this morning.
Is there any way to disable this feature?

what feature are you talking about exactly? cross-traffic? traffic camera? uneven surface?

these can all be turned off

I live in Alaska and it does the same thing to me. "CAUTION DANGEROUS TRAFFIC SITUATION AHEAD."

hmmm I’m actually not familiar with that warning, and I’ve been through several accident-related traffic jams.

is navigation active? maybe disable RTTI?

It's quite annoying, isn't it? Especially when you are listening to nice music and then that thing starts screaming at you over the music...

Evidently it is a new feature of 11/2023. I just installed that about an hour ago so haven't had a chance to look around. I would think it may be an App but that is just a guess.

I've had the notification pop-up a few times when I had 03/2023.67 installed, and I want to say starting when I had 03/2022.72 from the factory as well. I just installed 11/2023.50 on 03/02 and know I got the pop-up before the recent update.

And I want to say it popped up without navigation running as well.

I have to see if I get it. I have gotten warnings in Navigation already but from how people are describing this it is different. I take it to be similar to the Rough/Uneven Road ahead warnings which are outside of Nav.

do you have more specific info on it? the release notes i read for 11/2023 only highlighted the Welcome Light animation and external lighting customization.

I’ll go through the release notes of previous versions after work to see if it was added earlier than 11/2023.xx since arRod1981 recalls receiving these warnings within the past year

I bought my '23 in April of last year but I have never had that come up until after the last update a month or so ago. I never run Navigation when I'm driving around town. It overrides my home screen with a loud beep and a vocal warning "Caution-Dangerous Traffic Situation Ahead" and then gives a pic of the intersection or stretch of road. It is pretty loud and just about gave me a heart attack the first time it goes off. It does it usually when snowing but will go off even when snowing lightly.
I have been driving in winter conditions for 50 years and don't need my car to tell me when the road might be slippery.

I have not seen any information on it other than folks on the forum complaining about it. I think the warnings that arRod1981 is referring to are the ones I mentioned that are from nav and not related to these.

In for routine service today, 2nd oil change, 18000 miles on my 2024 X6 M60i
Told SA: Do not do any iDrive updates to 8.5 We'll see

Thanks, that looks like it is different than that warnings I have gotten from nav/RTTI. Let's see what others say.

Yes, these are the warnings I see as well. It has also notified me of 'object in road' in the past this same way as well.

I do have the sounds changed via BimmerCode, and don't find the notifications nearly as jarring as with the factory default sounds.

Probably reaching here, but I wonder if it's something enabled starting with late 2022 builds. Just like how you mentioned about you enabling the start-up sounds through BimmerCode, but those of us with late 2022 builds mentioned them already being activated from the factory.

Like I said probably most likely reaching, but it made me think about it.

The new update has not installed yet in my car and I've gotten it off and on this winter.

Yes, was just doing some searching and evidently this warning has been around in one form or another or at least 10 years. Perhaps they changed the parameters recently and now snowy roads are included.

Odd, I drove through some pretty bad snow storms in Nov and Dec and never had this go off. Now on morning drives with light snow it goes off every few blocks. As someone else mentioned, it can be quite jarring when trying to enjoy a leisurely drive to work in the morning.
