I think the problem that some of us are looking to solve is that the option for 3rd party is not showing up.

Anyone have ideas to try?
I believe these steps were posted already but this is the response I received from Connected Drive Canada. For some reason the Assistant app isn't updating.

"Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting BMW Assist Customer Care.

Your vehicle is still at the 20-3 level.

We recommend resetting the head unit from within the vehicle. To do so, please perform the following, in order:

· Hold the power button down for 70 seconds exactly. (The volume knob is the iDrive power button)

· The iDrive screen in the center of the vehicle will turn off and reboot around 25 seconds into the 70 seconds, but keep holding the power button for the entire 70 seconds

· After 70 seconds, release the power button and wait for iDrive to boot up

· On the iDrive, click "Apps" and then press the "Option" button near the iDrive controller in the center console

· Choose "Update apps and services". The vehicle will then undergo a short update.

· Finally, remove the BMW Connected app from your phone and then reinstall the app.

Once the update completes, we recommend shutting the vehicle off and allowing a few minutes before restarting the vehicle to check the connection.

Sincerely,

BMW ConnectedDrive Canada"

And no surprise to me, the above didn't fix my issue.

Cause of problem identifed.

So it appears that since I had a 3rd party update my software and he didn't use ista+, the update was done 'offline'. BMW connected servers think I am still on 2020.3.XX and so the Assistant app (with Alexa support) isn't updated/provisioned to my account.

So I will pay to have the dealer update.

My Alexa support still doesn't work either. I updated myself OTA. What can I do then?

I got mine to work by deregistering the X5 from the App and essentially started all over. It works with out a hiccup. One thing I do notice is it takes a couple of minutes to activate Alexa when I get in the X5.

How do you de-register X5 from the myBMW app?

Sorry, I meant from the Alexia App and disconnect from the BMW App.

So l called Genius support line. Unfortunately, during the conversation, I was disconnected. However, right after that, Alexa started to work. I asked Alexa how far is the moon and it replied

But 2mins later, it stopped working again. BMW must have done something.....

I don't know if this update pushed by CD support team or by BMW Canada.
It took a couple of days before Weather, News and myBMW returned after 3/21 update. But you probably have realized this.
