Sandoval 2017 - The skinny

Pablo showed up at spring training 8 days early and in much better shape. Cheers to him for working hard so his amazing talents aren't waisted, I mean wasted.

Looks like he is going to take a stab at earning the 3rd base spot. He lost the weight (so far). Now let's see if he has lost the attitude. Boston fans are hoping so. San Fransisco fans know better, or do they?

Let's see what happens.

He had some to loose though!

He can certainly hit a ball so I hope he looks after himself, "we" certainly can do with him in the team and playing well.

Always loved Pablo, but his weight was constantly a problem when he was in SF. Damn good ball player though.

One month into the season and Sandoval is not having the comeback he was hoping to have. On the disabled list for 10 days for knee injury while fielding a ball. So far this season, he's batting .213 vs a .286 career average. Ouch!

Looks like his days in San Francisco, the team he bashed for daring to take him on about his weight, were the highlight of his career. As a Giant fan, I'm glad to see him gone but I'm not glad to see him hurt. I'd rather see him lose his position to a better player. At .213 average it was only a matter of time before he was benched anyway.

All that skill. Too bad.

Good riddance. This post makes me think of better days when the panda was at home in his natural habitat, San Francisco. Back when World Series trophies were won. Everything comes to an end. Especially if you refuse to practice and eat all the time.

sometimes you can call injuries bad luck. But for an overweight dude, a knee injury while fielding the ball is completely on him.

Perfect assessment.

Unfortunately, he would never see it that way. He just pisses on the very people who are trying to help him. He arguably could have been one of the best 3rd basemen in the game today, but he squandered that amazing gift. Another amazing gift that he squandered is the love from his first major league team (SF) and its adorning fans. I've been following baseball a lot of years and I can think of only a handful of players that achieved the love and admiration he achieved at SF. His actions on his way out the door and his comments afterward were pretty disgusting from a fan point of view.

As a fan of baseball, I'll still hope he gets the help he need and gets the chance to perform again. He is special to watch at the plate and at 3rd. I just don't have high hopes that he will be back in a competitive way. Hope I'm wrong.

Well, its over for Sandoval; at least with Boston. What team in their right mind would take over his contract at this point.

If he'd listened to the advice he was getting from San Francisco on weight and training, he could still have quite a career left. He's only 30. Instead he felt disrespected and pissed on the Giant organization and its fans who adored him.

What's next for Sandoval? I'm sure it will be him spouting off about how he was mistreated at Boston. What a colossal chump.

He still has $50 million plus owed on his contract. I hope he enjoys his retirement.

And it's over. He's always welcome back here for The minimum contract.

I hear you. But, money does not buy happiness. Sandoval blames everybody but himself. He must be a miserable person to live that way. Unless he has excellent, trustworthy, professional financial advisors, he will blow through that money in 10 years and then he will be a broke, overweight colossal chump who is still calling out people who he thinks disrespect him. Without financial advise that he actually follows (not likely), and a dramatic attitude adjustment (even less likely), the $50mm will only make the fall that much harder when it comes. Personally, I wouldn't trade places with him for any amount of money.

I hope I'm wrong and he figures out he f*cked up an amazing situation, makes the proper apologizes, and gets is life together. Time will tell.
