Er, yes it will - stewards have declared it a racing incident.
Personally, I think he DID move across to block Hamilton on the inside line, which he's entitled to do... its called racing.

It says: "More than one change of direction to defend a position is not permitted.

Not the first and certainly not the last time the steward got this wrong.
There was only one move, and no one is disputing that.

Here's an interesting comment from Hamilton:
“I got a good start but he [Rosberg] slipstreamed me into Turn 1. Then through Turn 3 he had a d-rate - basically he made a mistake and started in the wrong engine setting. We only have one setting for maximum power and he wasn’t in it, which meant he was like 180bhp down."

At first I was blaming LH for once again being impatient. Then, after watching it over and over it really seemed as though NR deliberately drove him off the track. He certainly did not leave a car width. In fact NR's wheels were almost on the grass. WAY off the racing line. A dick move for sure.

Initial reactions tell the story. LH was pissed, throwing his steering wheel, and NR kinda gives an "aww shucks" swing with his arm.

That debrief had to be pure rage!

Will be very curious to see how the team handles it. They keep refusing to name a #1 driver so no reason to believe it won't happen again.

Yep, as said above, it was just the one move and with such a high closing speed, I doubt Rosberg knew Hamilton was that close. He was just moving to the inside line to avoid Hamilton going down his inside.

As stewards said, racing incident and TBH best thing that coulda happened for F1, leaving others to have a genuine race... Best race for ages.

Looking at this video, it looks like just the one move after the previous corner. He came outta the right hander and moved to the inside to defend.

But yes, a great race (for once) and I'm also gutted for Ricciardo. Such a nice guy who was very decent about it afterwards but you could see he was mad underneath. Rubbish decision by Red Bull. If they wanted to try an alternative strategy (which is slower on paper), maybe do it with the second driver who wasn't leading the race.

Just got done watching the race. Wow! I was in disbelief when the Mercs took each other out! Great race from Max today in his debut for RB! Ferrari had no answer for them. I guess in hindsight RB made the correct move -- although this must make Kvyat feel like crap because that could've been him.

This is what we need, closer racing..no complicated changes in aero or tires. The Mercs should take themselves out more often haha.

Congrats to Max. I still remember back when his dumbass dad ran over the back of Montoya while Montoya lead the race in Brazil.

Red Bull is only going to get stronger. They have a big engine upgrade coming.

Ferrari can't win a race even when Mercedes gifts one to them...Fail!

Rosberg did an interview and confirmed that he was on the wrong setting, so I'd say that's all that needs to be said about this.

How'd you figure that? Max drove perfectly to fend-off Kimi. Kvyat likely would've dropped behind both Ferraris and the other RB. He finished way behind the other TR today.

Forget changing the rules to make F1 more exciting, just ban Benz.
Awesome race and congrats to Verstappen and Red Bull!

Not sure about the blame for the two big cry babies taking themselves out. No doubt Nico closed the door but not sure if the timing was kosher or not.

Down 180 horsepower due to the wrong setting but still kept pace and made the pass going into the first turn? How exactly does that work?

The Ros/Ham wreck is really inconsequential. A Merc is winning the championship period, their cars are just as dominant as last year. Points gap between Ros and Ham is the same as going into the weekend. Only thing is Ham loses a race to gain points back.

It was a racing incident just like Spa incident, but with the roles reversed. No one to blame, just move on.

Are you suggesting that NR was changing settings after turn 1 and selected the wrong setting going into turn 2?

Being in the wrong setting from the start (down 180 whp) would have made it impossible to keep pace going into turn 1.
