Yes your config in-car looks the same as mine.

In your BMW connected app-Vehicle-Info-Enabled Features what do you have re. ventilation or remote start or similar?

These are the only features I see related to conditioning:

Enabled Features:
...
Climatize Now
Climatize Timer
Stop Climatization
...

I don't see anything specific to remote start,.

I do have a Start Engine Now selection in app-Remote and it does work.

Thanks Dan that really helps.

I also have the 'Start Engine' option in the apps, but I don't see Climatize Now as a service. I have Ventilate Now.

Perhaps that is the issue.

Our 2018 X3 did not have remote start and it's features listed Ventilate Now, I think (it's gone now, replaced by the X5).

Weirdly the watch app says Climate Control, which triggers the lights flashes and AC, but no engine start. It also reports a success!

I hadn't tried it from my watch so I just did. I did Climate Control->Activate. It worked!

However, it said it failed but that's probably because I was standing next to the car and shut it off shortly after it started.

I've triggered it via iDrive, Display Key, Apple Watch, iOS app. It flashes the indicator lights a few times and then either kicks in and starts the car, or flashes a few more times and generates an error message.

Aware of the need to start/stop the engine manually after 2 remote requests.

Does anyone with the feature enabled from factory recall seeing any of these error messages?
- Display key: "Error. Try again later"
- iDrive error - "Remote engine start not available. Conditions needed for operation are not met. See Owners handbook for more information.

I'm guessing its either a coding issue, regional lock, i-step bug, other?
Can you share how you enabled Remote Engine Start via coding? Did you use bimmercode, other? Can you post the codes?

I'll PM them to you as they are not working for me in the UK. I use esys and Launcher Pro.

The DisplayKey has the Start/Stop Engine option and the car has the Remote Start option checkbox.

When I do Start Engine it flashes the lights and makes a few whirring and clicking sounds like its about to start the engine but it then flashes the indicators again and generates an error message on the key and in car (see earlier in the thread).

Assuming UK cars have the remote starter hardware, I suspect its an issue with Connected Drive not supporting the feature in the UK. My CD options are different than users in regions where it is supported.

If you can test and it works for you on a US car then we will at least know the coding is 100%.

Wondering if this worked for tartan43. I have a Canadian 2019 model with only the m package so missing the remote start option. Would like to get a remote start option for this vehicle. If there is any coding means to achieve this it would be awesome

Working fine for me.
First you need to makes sure you enable it under setting-precondition-engine start precondition.
Then you can either
1. Press lock button on your key 2 times, and hold it for 3rd time until the engine is started.
2. Smartphone App-Climatize now-Engine Start Climatization
3. BMW display key-Climatize Preconditon-Engine Start Request.

Unfortunately I ended up with the same results - turn indicators flash a few times and iDrive displays the error message: “Remote engine start not available. Conditions needed for operation are not met. See Owners handbook for more information.” I must be missing another software setting somewhere.

I’m convinced this is a software only setting because;
1. When looking on www.realoem.com, I don’t see any ECU, power distribution, or module parts that specifically callout cars with 1CR opt vs cars without 1CR (unlike Comfort Access opt, for example) - indication that this is a software only feature.
2. The service advisor “flipped out” when I pressed him to install the Remote Engine Start module - cost no object. He kept reiterating “it’s not possible, it’s a factory only option...”

Has anyone tried mapping this feature from files pulled of a G05 with 1CR?

1CR in FA is the only coding needed.

For obvious reasons, dealers don't tend to do much FDL coding, hence why these kind of features can be retrofit with vo coding in esys alone.

An FSC code is required to fully enable the remote start feature. I don't know anyone who has been able to get one from a dealer other than Canadian customers as part of the retrofit option.

So is it conceivable that a Canadian dealer could provide the FSC code for a US car?

Can an FSC code be “retrieved” from a Canadian X5? I understand all pre March ‘19 deliveries were shipped w/o 1CR, but later were retrofitted by dealers

So far I’ve contacted; fscretrofit.com, bimmer-tech.net, bimmer-unlock.com and codemybimmer.ca - nobody knows anything about FSC code for 1CR Remote Engine Start.

Why do you think FSC is required for this to work, besides the obvious that it seems adding 1CR and VO coding hasn't worked yet? I am asking to learn.

In the meantime, in case it is useful, I did a comparison with and without 1CR on my April 2019 Canadian-build with Remote Engine Start working and get the following ECUs that are affected:
  • FZD2[56]/00001D92
  • SM2[6D]/00002259
  • SM2[6E]/0000225A
  • HU_MGU[63]/00003E52
  • DKOMBI4[60]/00004508

On your prompting, I had a look around for FSC from my car, but I gather FSC are unique per-car and cannot be re-used. :-(

Ista diagnosis when trying to activate remote start without FSC but valid coding, and a separate discussion on CarTechnology.

Have you tried posting a 1CR FSC request to that community? What has been the feedback?
Also, did you VO code the same ECU as Lexx lists?

Thank you Lexx! Any chance you can isolate an FSC application ID for 1CR? From what I’ve read each feature (nav map, Apple CarPlay, etc.) has a dedicated app ID.
