Sorry to hear.. that is so frustrating. Weeks can seem like an eternity when you are excited about something.
Maybe it is for the best that you have cancelled. There are a lot of new model issues that need to get ironed out. Personally I now regret being such an early adopter as my vehicle just spent its fourth day in the shop with no estimate for when I can get it back. Happy car hunting |

This is very surprising but stuff happens. I would imagine that the dealer did not have allotment and they just kept pushing your order. I have also heard that the dealer can prioritize certain orders based on the profits they make on it (Like less discount given etc..)
I would advise you to find another dealer who actually has an allotment. I have had my G05 for close to a month now and its been great. No issues yet (Fingers crossed) |

I'm very sorry to hear this. I would bet 99.99% this is on the dealer. They definitely never put the order in, plain and simple. I would even think canceling the order is letting them off easy. I would tell them exactly what you want, and they have 1 week to find it. Make them find a dealership that has what you want, and them pay the destination charge.
I would go tomorrow and tell them you canceled the order and want to speak with the manager. 90% of the time they have no clue what's going on, your CA could have made up a story to him about why you canceled. I would ask if he is aware of the situation. Ask him to explain his side of the story. Fill in the gaps where they are wrong/ lying - remember, it's not his fault, most likely the CA lied to him. Tell him you contacted corporate. They told you to go to the dealership one last time in an attempt to make it right with you. If they can't/ won't, tell them you will be contacting BMWNA for the last time. I would also contact the next closest BMW dealership, that's what I did. I called them and explained the issue I had and they were OVER THE TOP trying to steal my business. They would drive the car I wanted to see 40 miles so I could see it locally. Tell them everything that happened and ask if they can help you as you're not getting help locally. I wouldn't stray from the X5; yes, there are bugs with the iDrive. But, when they're fixed, then what - you get a car you don't love? I promise this car is at the frontline of technology and yes, we're paying for it. But don't settle - if you really love a Q7 or XC90, then do it! Be happy - but I wouldn't make a financial decision because your dealership are jerks. Just my two cents, but really sorry to hear what happened, hope it all works out :/

You may have canceled a bit prematurely. I managed to connect with someone who works on the X5 line in Spartanburg. It appears they consider production to have started when the engrave the VIN on raw body right before the paint process (apparently it's a little different than what we see online). From there cars are finished within 24 hours and on to quality check. It's entirely possible your car could still be built tomorrow.

Congrats man! $1500 to wait a few weeks for a car seems worth it, however, I'm frugal, so...ha!
I would personally email your original dealership a picture of your build and cc the executive office and just explain the only time you will be seeing them in the future will be for service since the car will be under warranty. Glad you got an X5 and can go through all the bs with us once you get it!

Well damn, it's their loss then. Portland I would assume has a few dealerships and I would be spreading the word on how shitty of a time they put you through. I literally would be trying to find ways to expose them. What boggles my mind is why they wouldn't try to win your business. Why wouldn't they do anything to try and make a customer of a product that costs $80k + happy and to come do business with them.
Well, glad it worked out with a different dealer, hopefully it goes quick.

That's a good one.
Google, Yelp, their Facebook page, etc. I checked out my dealer at those sites and read many a comment before making my offer. If the dealer had say.....a 3.6 rating out of 5 on Google in the service dept. I wouldn't bother to do biz with them. I think social media has done much to keep most businesses honest. Word gets around FAST. |

Just be glad that the first deal didn't work out because in the end you saved $1500. I would definitely take that. Unfortunately no such thing happened to me and I missed out on the Corporate fleet discount.
