The same thing have happened to me and the OP of that thread.

AndroidRobot, did the guys who did your ppf,/ceramic/tint leave the key inside the car or never turn the car completely off? Even if you push the start/stop button the car's electronics will still stay on unless you lock the car and walk away. If you have the doors open for hours per day, a few days in a row, the battery will die.

There's a function to "turn off vehicle" if you push up on the iDrive knob, scroll all the way to the right, you'll see an option to turn everything off.

I had the same red "Replace Battery" warning that wouldn't go away. When I took it in, my SA said it wouldn't hold a charge. He also said they can see literally every instance you turn the car on, how long it stayed on, and whether the ignition was on or not. For example, if you go to your car, get in, sit down and customize your widgets for 4 minutes then leave without ever starting the engine, it will get logged. They see all this the moment they hook the car up to their computer, so, you can't really lie to them.

My SA also said batteries are not covered under warranty cuz they're normal wear and tear items, but he replaced mine anyway cuz the car was only a week old. BMW batteries are not cheap and you'd have to get them "programmed" to your vehicle.

It's a good idea for people who have their G05's worked on to let their installers know how to turn off all the car's electronics, since there's so much of it, so that the car's battery won't get completely drained.
They did not leave the cars accessory power on but when the hood is open the car will beep constantly at you for example. If I had to guess the cars battery wasn't fully charged from the start and the little time doors were open ended up causing an issue. I hope my dealer replaces it or fixes the issue without telling me to buy a battery on my week old car
They should. From what I've seen, all the cases where this have happened, the dealers have resolved it by replacing the battery. I'm hoping yours will be the same.
I won't hold you breath since my dealer is small and their service dept isn't great. I'll let you guys know what happens.

Mine threw the error last week despite being driven 30 miles a day every day and had just been driven hours before. I think it was detecting my key being too close to the garage just inside my mudroom, so I moved it further from the car (as the car would wake up anytime I went in the garage as it detected the car). So far the error has not returned keeping the key further away.

interesting, mines Definitely still there but I'll give that a try too.

on an unrelated note I'm surprised to have averaged 20mpg going 80-85mph on my way home over 300 miles. With city driving added it's 18mpg now which is pretty good for the V8

I think when I went to car settings it said something like if the message persists go to dealer as it is probably actually a bad battery.

Mine persists, I've cleared the code in diagnostic mode and it goes away until I turn the car back on ie it's likely an actual bad battery

Ok so I checked the battery voltages both front and rear:

front 12.74V
rear 12.65V

While running front: 13.94V

all of these seem fine so I think it's just a flag that I can't clear in iDrive

Did you load test it or just measure the voltage, the voltage would indicate you are fully charged, but you would really need to have it load tested to tell if you have a problem with it or not.

I did not load test, I suppose I should've done one but it'll be at the dealer tomorrow morning. I'll report back about what they say

Rear battery was replaced, dealer said it had a bad cell and at one point had 0 charge.

on another note my lovely only local dealer put a giant crease in my brand new Merino leather driver's seat bolster, I'm beyond pissed about this and told them to replace it. I don't think they will so I'm likely getting BMW NA involved and or taking it further up the chain

Glad they replaced the battery! But that's unbelievable about the seat!

Do you have a photo? I'm not 100% sure what happened.

If you try to involve BMWNA, get ready for the bureaucracy. Ask me how I know.

I'd consider living with the crease if it's not bad and will likely just end up being part of the normal wear/look.

I've had something similar addressed by BMW (my E70 had a driver's seat leather defect) and all I ended up doing was fixing the seat and getting my seat belt covered in grease and reinstalled flipped over (buckle facing the wrong way) - along with my door card leather getting damaged.

I avoid the dealer at all costs...

I am with you, as much as I can I don't let the dealer take my car apart, they are being paid to hurry and things get messed up. BMW Peabody has actually been about the best in my book and Tulley I have had good luck usually. My Mercedes which I take to Burlington is another story, almost always takes 2 trips, even when I bought the car (CPO 3 years old). Alignment is off, notice in the first block (come to think of it took Peabody 2 tries also on my 335i). Got a low oil warning a day after they changed the oil. As part of CPO, 2 years free service, next service they changed the Trans Oil, next day it pours oil all over my driveway and garage and starts smoking like it will catch fire, they claimed it was a bad washer on the drain plug, but I drove it like 5 miles and it put so much oil on the undertray that it was running off the undertray and blowing onto the exhaust - total mess, thing then never torqued the bolt and it backed out. Small stuff would rather do myself sometimes just to know it was done correctly.

Anyway rant over, good luck with getting them to deal with the seat, how do they even do that, all they did was drive it to the service bay and back, not like they had to work from the drivers seat to fix stuff.

BMW NA is calling them, they know it was their fault so I don't think I'm welcome there anymore if they end up paying for a seat. I can avoid creases in the booster because I never slide across it so unless I create the problem it's going to bother me. I don't like when people treat other vehicles like crap because it's not theirs, to me that's unacceptable. We will see what happens.

Wish I had seen this post before. Same thing just happened to me. Dropped car off to get ppf for week. Now after 6 days the connect app just warned me battery low and replace battery. Called ppf guys and they confirmed car is throwing code to replace battery.

I will take to dealer tomorrow. Hoping once battery is charged they can just clear code and not have to replace battery. If I get charged for battery these ppf guys better be ready to pay.

Let this be a warning to anyone getting ppf these morons leave hood and doors open or key to close and drain car.

When our G05 had PPF done, I dropped it off with a CTEK and made sure they kept it plugged in as much as possible. Battery stayed good despite PPF and interior treatment that took 4 days with the doors, trunk, and hood being open most of the time. The G05 battery looks to be very susceptible to deep discharge...
