'Bout to go pick 'er up!

I'm picking up my 4.0 phytonic with tartufo today. Should I sit there for 2 hours and listen to the guy try to teach me all about idrive or maybe just say "keys please...bye"?

I mean, it's not like I won't be sitting in my driveway until the wee hours anyway, clicking, pushing, turning, and waving my hands around in mid air, figuring it all out. I shan't sleep until I've learned everything!

BTW, the tracker showed it as "at the dealership" for 5 days before it actually turned up.

As much as you're going to enjoy driving it, my vote is to sit there with somebody who knows things about it. Drive 7 is so unlike any previous version and there are so many different settings, it just makes it easier if you go through it with somebody who *should* know about the new things.

I've seen so many posts here from people who can't get things running (connected drive, CarPlay, no card key) and I think it's in part due to the dealer not setting up things correctly behind the scenes before/at delivery. If you spend some time with the people who should know, at least you'll know what's working and what isn't.

Congratulations and many happy miles!

Looking back, I would have paid more attention during my 1 hour tutorial. I know how to work all the things I NEED, but I was eager to get him out of my car and on the road, so a lot went in one ear and out the other leaving many features of the vehicle totally unused at this point. Also, not knowing how to open my hood at the gas station the other day was fun

Congrats! I would sit through the orientation. You may learn a thing or two.

Yes, sit through the orientation; for better or worse, it’s still part of the experience.

So I didn't sit through. And it's actually pretty easy to go through and pick it all up. Much easier than previous versions which drove me around the bend.

Except for connected drive. It's not happy with adding the new forty aye in as the vehicle. I'm going to let it stew overnight and attack it full force in the morning with a big cuppa coffee and some time to speak with Bmw assist folks.

Congrats. What a great journey. Download the user manual and take time going over small sections at a time, then go try it in your car. I still am finding new items in the manual and it’s my 3rd read through.

Getting mine tomorrow. I'm sure I'll be spending HOURS sitting in the car tomorrow night. I'll have to recode my brain from MBUX back to iDrive.
