2-Axle Suspension Option
So I just ordered my new X5...delivery mid-November. However, just found out that the 2-Axle Air Suspension is available starting in 12/18 as part of the Comfort Handling Package (ZHC). That package will give the air suspension and Integral Active Steering (4 wheel steering), at the cost of $1300. It wasn't an option when I ordered, but would like to have it.

It's for the 40i, and it's a little frustrating as these new package/options are slowly appearing, but they're not on the BMW.com.byuo when you build the car. Yet, you hear about others across the US able to include certain option (e.g., acoustic glass).

I can confirm that the order guide was updated on 10/15 with ZHC. I had been going back and forth with corporate to get the 2 axel air suspension with the dynamic handling package and this was the result. While it's not everything I wanted (missing active roll stabilization and msport differential) it finally allows for msport and the 2 axel air suspension to be had without the third row. It's available on both models.

I would definitely ask your CA to see if you can push your order back to a December build date so you can get the package. You're already spending this kind of money on the car, you better get what you want on it or you'll regret it later on. |

No. You can add it instead of dhp. You would also have to add msport brakes at a separate option. You would be giving up msport differential and active roll stabilization

Since it sounds like you are one of the other folks who were trying hard to get the DHP on a 40i, would you mind sharing the response you got from corporate on why you couldn't get DHP with your 40i order? I'm willing to make the same inquiries/phone calls you did to see if we can make DHP (preferably with the air suspension and 4-wheel steering) at least a possibility on the 40i. No third row should be required for any of this stuff. Feel free to pm me if that is easier.

One other question on this. Since they are calling this the "Comfort Handling Package" does that mean that the supposed "MSport tuning" for the adaptive dampers (which are now replaced by the air suspension) is gone even if you get an MSport with this ZHC? I would still want a more sporting-tuned version, not some cushy/floaty version just in the name of comfort. That's one of the great things with the air suspensions, you can get both more comfort and more "sport" out of them if they are tuned correctly.

This is great news! Do we have pricing on ZHC?
EDIT: D'oh. I see now, $1,300 as OP mentioned. Sorry! Last edited by iiAtlas; 10-22-2018 at 01:00 PM.. |

So the 2VH is $1150 and the 2VR is $1000 when ordered separately. Since the ZMP has the 2VF already, I wonder if I'd get a credit if I ordered both now? I'm a week 45 build and I'd love the ZHC for $1300, but I don't want to lose my $1450 leather credit. Wonder if I can order the 2VR before the 12/18 if I order separate instead of the ZHC? Also can you lower the ride height with the 2 axle air and drive it like that all the time, or is it just lowered for getting in and loading the vehicle?
