"Quality Checks"
I've been tracking my new X5 as well. I had a 2016 that I loved! But it developed a symptom that made it feel like it had a displaced hip when I made right turns. The dealer couldn't fix it after several tries. So they helped me get the car repurchased, and I ordered another one.
My new ride will be a 50i like my previous one, but with the M-Sport Package and everything except the leather dash and integral steering. Here is a screenshot of the "Tracking" of the build process. It's been at this point for the last 3 days. I am not sure about the "build weeks" that I keep seeing. A salesman estimate the car would arrive between the next 2 to 3 weeks. |

so you didn't get the dynamic handling package I take it. QC doesn't take very long usually but cars can get stuck there for a week or more

Mine was 7 days I think, but at the same time others were less than one day, not sure what the difference is but they all seem to have the same bugs no matter how long in QC!

I'm actually driving a 2019 X5 right now that the dealer let me use while I wait for my order. It's a 40i without many bells and whistles but the interior does not feel the same as my 2016 50i. To be honest, it seems kind of inexpensive [trying not to say "cheap"].
Also, when I place my iPhone Xs on the charging pad, it does not charge. It only activates Apple Pay. I saw that mention somewhere else. I hate to admit it, but I'm getting a little unexcited about the new car's arrival. I hope I feel differently once I see it. Maybe I've just owned too many X5's. |

I think QC is a parking lot for vehicles that entered production but couldn't be "finished" because they had some part(s) that became out-of-stock during production and had to be added post-production.
I think BMW is hitting some major supply chain issues. One forum member posted that he went from "in production" and stepped backward to "awaiting production" (Wow). Indicating BMW are keeping vehicles off the assembly line that they cannot complete - Vs - partially completing and then adding back ordered parts in QC or in the awaiting carrier phase. The two culprits seem to be the surround view cameras (Parking Assistance) and Acoustic Glass. - With Parking Assistance, in Mid-October, BMW removed the parking assistance feature from the Premium Package and had it as a separate package in the configurator to help decrease (and triage) orders that used the surround view cameras.... Goal seems to be to drive down demand to let the supply chain keep up. - With the Acoustic Glass, in early Jan - BMW doubled the price of the option. Seems like they are trying to drive down demand to be in line with their supply chain... |

Order my on 11/28 for build week 51, it was a 50i with every single option except DHP as I have order comfort handling package as I prefer to have air suspension, production start 12/13 and completion date 1/3, on 1/3 in the morning around 9:00am it move to QC and by 12:00 pm waiting for carrier, by 7:00pm I call up bmw genius to confirm the status and they told me vehicle has been dispatched from the factory and on the way to my dealership. My sales call me up on 1/7 vehicles has arrive and I just picked it up last night and here is some photo .

I've been in Quality Check for 7 days now... starting to worry something is really wrong even though my SA doesn't seem concerned. 40i M Sport with pretty much everything except the extended Merino and NV. Ugh.

So, don’t freak out, but overnight my car went from “entering the assembly line” to “awaiting carrier assignment.” Clearly the online tracking is not real time. But it didn’t sit in QC. At least not on the tracker.
Also, regarding creating your account on BMWUSA, you will use that same account for all of your bmw stuff, like connected drive etc. you might want to use the same login/Password that you used on this forum. I think that’s what I did - I signed up for the bmw account first and then came to this forum using the same login (as far as I can recall, it was a month ago). |
