That render looks like it has a muffin top, just like the new Q5

Lots to like about the F15 (interior, drive, tech) but I really have never bonded with how it looks. I much preferred the E70 LCI and still do a double take every time I see one on the road. Much sharper lines. The F15 is too bloated in the back, especially in black, where the black trim piece on the rear window gets lost. I'm super excited about the G05. The G01 is the best looking SUV out there right now, IMHO, so if the G05 looks anything like a bigger G01, it'll be sharp as hell.

I love the lines on this from this angle:

I'm on my 2nd X5. My 2015's lease is up in August but I'm also planning to buy it back and keep it till the G05 is in its second production year. How much was your buyout, and was it better than market pricing? Did you pursue BMW dynamic pricing by any chance?

I don't remember the exact number, but it was basically the residual. I tried to negotiate with BMWNA, but they couldn't do anything and I didn't have the time or patience to go back to the dealership to negotiate. I might have saved a little money, but there was no guarantee (I'd already been in a conversation with them about staying with my car and they were trying to push the 2018) and I don't think it would have been a lot.

Wow, I love the new X3 design, not sure I'm feeling how the X5 is shaping up. That body line going under the front handle and through the back looks weird.

That render is essentially a X3 M40i. It's missing the clearly terrible body line visible in the spy pics.

Based on spy shots it seems like it'll continue to be a great looking SUV, as all X5s have.

I am curious however, why such a fast redesign? The F15 isn't even 5 yrs old and it's on its way out. It is a great vehicle that is still the best in class alongside the Q7.

With that being said, I'm not complaining. The F15 is disappointing to drive (coming from the E70) and is kind of frumpy looking without ///M sport pkg.

Hopefully the interior spruces things up and it becomes more fun to drive like the E70 was. The positive reviews of the new X3 are promising.

Is this likely for a fall 2018 or spring 2019 release?

Man I'm really not sure about these new tail light designs (X4, 8 series and now X5). It has not even 1% BMW design language in it.

What is with the german car companies and quadruple redundant buttons these days?

The steering wheel controls look like you could pilot a space shuttle. The scroll wheel does EVERYTHING that you can do in the MMI menu, and then there are still buttons all around it, and then still more buttons that do all the same exact things once again in the center console stack. Less=more.

My B8 Audi S4 steering wheel has a 2 multifunction up and down scroll wheels which push in for "confirmation/enter," a voice control button, and a phone pickup/hangup button. You really don't need a button for every single ridiculous thing you can do in the car!

Its like a competition between BMW Mercedes and Audi to have the most buttons that do the same exact F***ing thing!

Nothing exciting in the interior. Disappointed. Interior design is BMW's biggest weakness.

I really like the changes to the X3, but I'm really on the fence with what I've seen with the new X5.

The lease on our SQ5 is up in 2 months and I've never been so unsure on what our next vehicle will be. The new Q7 just doesn't do anything for me (yet it's the safest/cheapest bet), current X5 still looks great, but is at the EOL, not sure what is going on with the new X5 and last contender is the recently refreshed RRS. UGH!
